Dealers Gouging Customers On The Z Car ?

I'm hearing that some people that have ordered the 350Z are discovering that the dealer is marking the car up $5000 to $10,000 above MSRP. If true, what a rip-off. IMO too much competition out there to be pulling that crap. Heck, I was just told that some Infiniti dealers are already dealing slightly below MSRP on the G35 sedan and that they intend on offering the coupe at MSRP ( just like they did with the G35 sedan upon it's release ). I'll gladly take the G35 coupe at MSRP over paying an outrageous premium for the 350Z.

Some dealers are just like that.

Mossy here in Houston is dealing at MSRP provided that you gave your deposit and waited in line for the release (deposit is refundable if you don't want the car, otherwise it goes towards your downpayment).

Unfortunately, the list has already hit the hundreds. The first one on the list was down for dibs almost 2 years ago.

Before I bought my Max, I actually had a Z reserved. It was the Performance Package. They were giving it to me for MSRP. Eventually I decided to save some money, and have a backseat. I hope i don't regret it.

I initially thought that the 350Z would hurt G35 coupe sales. But, if these greedy Nissan dealers aren't careful the G35 will make a nice back up choice and sales could actually get a boost if availability & cost become issues with the 350Z. In my case the G35 coupe is actually a better choice as I know that I will end up regretting that I don't have a back seat.

It's called "supply and demand". I has and forever will happen with any and all hot products in any market segment. I remember PT Cruisers selling for 2 to 5k over sticker when they 1st came out. We still sell ZO6 Vettes for MSRP and the same goes for the MR2 Spyder (esp with the manualauto). When no one will pay the markup it will come down. The people who pay #1 have the $$$$$ or want them 1st. Don't get po'd just wait for the suckers to dry up and get it at msrp or less later will not make things better it's just hurts longer.

I'm getting for MSRP plus a small fee for paperwork. Dealers that are selling over MSRP are getting punished by getting shipments late.

Most of you aren't old enough to remember but that's exactly what happened with the original 240Z also. So really, the dealers are just making sure the new car follows its' heritage in every possible way!

Remember when the PT Cruiser showed up - the idiots were paying up to $5K over sticker for a stupid Neon with a different body... Sheep... Bahhh... I'll wait for my mid-life crisis to get my sports car (a couple year old 350Z will be nice in about 4-5 years!!!)... I'd NEVER pay more than sticker for a car, they ain't that important..

Unless of course, the 2004 Max is 350 HP Turbo AWD!!
