E-Brake question

This may be a dumb question, but I thought I'd ask it here before I bring it to the dealer and make an a$$ out of myself. I just bought a 2k2 max and noticed that on the e-brake (not the actual handle, but the base)...when it is pulled up you can see a circular hole on the base of the brake. It looks like there should be a cap or something covering it. Again, I am new, so I dunno if this is how Nissan made the car or mine just needs a cap. Thanks in advance.

Ditto on that. You can stick a screw driver in there to adjust the cable if you want. You may need it tightened if you can yank it up that high.

Thanks guys...I guess I'm just not used to it. It looks out of place...such a gorgeous car, and then a hole...hahaha...you would think they could make a removable cap or something.
