maxima & alty's rear view mirror swapable???

Anyone know if the 02 altima's rear view mirror is directly swapable with the 02 max's. I like the built in compass that the alty has, but am not ready to do any major modifications to get it.

why does the altima have a compass?

supposedly the 2k3 Maxima "Titanium Edition" (or even all 2k3s) will have a compass in the mirror. those will probably be interchangable with 2k2s

I was a bit ****ed when I found out my "flagship" didn't have a compass and the altima did...And trust me I need one I think there mirror displays out side air temp and something else.
I'd really like that mirror. People would stop getting that blank stare from me when they say something like "you need to go west for five miles"

don't feel bad...I always am trying to remember if west is left or right...then I have to remember which dang way is right and left (i'm dyslexic and proud of it dammit!)

a compass still wouldn't help....I still don't remember if its the avenues that go north south and streets go east west....or is it the other dang way??

ohhh crap...i'm lost and I'm sitting in my chair at work!! HELPPPP

Hmmm...why don't you guys look at getting a mirror from an I35? Mine has the compass built-in to it and it's auto-dimming. Would probably be a direct swap too.

I got THREE letters for ya! GPS

The Global Positioning System is God's gift(actually Militarys') to the "directionally challenged". You can pick them up for SUPER cheap nowdays. Cheaper than a new mirror. I've used a friends Magellan 315 and it cost around $90 on sale at Fry's electronics. It's EXTREMELY useful if you plug it into your laptop with a Street Maps software package. The more convienent but expensive route is a DVD navigation system.

Installation Easy?

Was the installation easy? Was it a direct replacement?
