2k2Merlot at the Drags

Just got home from open track afternoon/night at Portland International Raceway. This was my first time with the Maxima on the track, and only my second time on a track ever. My Max is bone stock with 6600 miles on it. My reaction times leave more than a little to be desired, but here's what I ran. At least I was pretty consistent, LOL.

1st Run: R/T 1.177
1/8 9.633@74.96
1/4 14.82@94.00

2nd Run: R/T 1.159
1/8 9.625@74.81
1/4 14.812@94.19

I also watched a G35 run against a CL-S, the best G35 1/4 was 15.2 and the CL-S was 15.9. Btw, I talked to the guy with the G35 and it has 1700 miles on it. So far he says he loves it, but was having trouble getting the manumatic transmission to shift properly in manual mode.

The CL-S was an auto. Not sure as to the miles on it, but he had been out there before.

CL-S Auto = 15.9, I ran 14.8.. what do you think a 2K2 6 speed, or "maybe" even me, would do to a CL-S 6 speed ???

Wow, there is something wrong with that CL-S! I bet he has a malfunctioning IMRC valve. I mean... 15.9????? It's pretty hard to blame the driver in an automatic and this is Portland so I'm assuming it wasn't 100 degrees!! I would expect slightly better times for the G35 as well. When I had my CL-S I was only running 15.2's when it was 98 degrees out. A few months later, when it was 65 degrees I was running 14.7s.

I'm hoping to take my Max to the track soon as I'm at 1500 miles but with summer coming here in Phoenix I'm not hoping for much. Damn heat!

I'm suprised you did not get better times with those 60's. Maybe you could work on your shifting a little?

All I know is I waved BYE BYE to a TL-S . I dont think a CL-S would make up that 1 1/2 car difference. I was BONE stock at the time...And YES we were racing !
