Hlsd?

I currently have a 97 Max SE, adn will be buying a 2002 SE 6 spd. Somebody told me about HLSD. I was not offered this at the dealer and would like to know more about it. If it will help me off the line I want it. Otherwise I don't. Anything else I should think about it.

It's a option only available on the 6 speeds. It Hydraulic Limited Slip Differential. Get it now or be sorry later!

How much does it cost or can you even get it done if you have a 2k-2k2 without it?

I just came from a '91 5 speed to a '02 6 speed and there were always two things I wanted to improve on from my '91s driveability. 1) Taking off from a traffic light I could easily spin my tires even if I wasn't trying if I gave it just a little too much gas and 2) trying to pull out into traffic with the slightest opening and turning at the same time would create terrible wheel spin. These were especially bad problems if the roads were wet. I looked at my all-wheel drive options and finally saw a review on the Quaife differential which Nissan calls the HLSD. The review raved about it's abilities on a front wheel drive vehicle and I decided to stay with the Maxima and HLSD instead of putting a lot more money into an all-wheel drive vehicle. The HLSD is great! When I take off from a stop too hard I can feel one tire break lose slightly and then the other and then solid traction. This three things happen in about a half second and it is the same on wet roads. I love it. My recommendation would be for $400 it is a must have option on the 6 speed.

Yeah Kloogy...there are at least two of us on this forum with good taste. Don't you just love the way the metallic particles come out and sparkle when the sunlight hits it?
