That will look abolutely ridiculous. Not only will your spedometer be off by quite a bit, it will look like crap. That is the fittament for a Honda Civic. Regardless of what kind of deal you are getting, DON'T DO IT!

Re: Need Some Help

sorry, dont have pics, but i experimented with 225/45/17 on a stock 2k2 GLE and it looked pretty bad. not atrocious, but doing the math, 225/45's were 3 cm smaller in total diameter than my stock wheels, and it looks like your setup would be 2 cm smaller than that. the 225/45/17 was really questionable. if you really wanna do the 205/40/17's, i would really suggest getting a set of rims/wheels from someone you know and put one wheel on and see if you can live with it (seeing it in person and seeing it in a pic can be different too).

You folks seem to be overlooking one small detail. If JohnnyMax01 mounts 205/40R17 tires on his Maxima, he will probably

DIE!

The first person who can tell me why wins a lollipop.

(Assuming you'd like to find out the answer for yourself, JohnnyMax01, I'd refer to you the Frequently Asked Questions sticky at the top of this forum. Go through it and read everything you can find about tires. Then come back here and tell my why it's suicidal to put those tires on your Maxima.)

If its a 17X7 wheel.... 225/50 is the perfect tire. The gap wont be too big, and they're not 4X4 tires.... Look at my homepage pictures, before my Maxspeeds... This is the Stock Size Nissan uses on the SE .... Why would you even consider that tire size in the first place ??

225 is a little too beefy for my liking. Although that is the size I would go with on a 17", if I were really looking to rid some of the "fat", I'd go with a 215 50 17 at the VERY minimum.

215/50 ?? why would you want to lose thread ??? These arent Euro T/A's we're running on ... Most guys are having traction problems with the 225's... It would not help to go down in size...... By the way AZ.. thanks for the Whalen tire tip... I think I found my next wheels !

Well, a 215 50 is sure a lot better than a 205 40. I definitely wouldn't mount a 215 on the Max, but if Johnny was hell bent on not running 225s because of cosmetic issues, then the 215 is the way to go.

Kloogy- what wheels are you looking at? Your car looks tight as is......

By the way, here are your wheels. That site takes forever to load. They are very nice and I can understand why you wouldn't want a beefy sidewall on a deep dish lip. Unfortunately, the only way to REALLY get rid of the "fat" is to go with an 18".

After seeing the website, I am guessing that you want to 205 40 because that is the tire on special? Sometimes they can substitute other tires with an "upsizing" charge if I am not mistaken. Give tham a call and see what they say.
