Just bought a 2k2 SE tonight..

Worked out the final deal on a Super Black/Charcoal Leather 2k2 SE tonight. I went with the automatic because I'm coming from a '98 Cobra (you can see it on the website in my profile) and I'm really tired of shifting right now. I didn't get the Nav because I didn't want to give up the convenience of the 6 disc in-dash system. I also skipped the Meridian Package because in Oklahoma it might see 15 minutes of use per year, if any. Other than that it's loaded. Sunroof, Bose upgrade, leather, splash guards, etc.

The only thing that sucks is that they had to do a dealer trade for it. But, I was given a white '02 SE to drive until my black/black SE arrives. Its supposed to be in on Wednesday for sure. I can't wait! I spent about an hour this evening just checking out the loaner SE I have. So far I'm beyond impressed by these cars.

Once my Maxima comes in, the dealership is also going to send a set of factory wheels to be chromed for me. Then when the wheels are done, they'll swap them out. I thought it would look nice with the bl on bl.

I've been reading this bbs for over a month now so I've learned quite a bit incidentally but I look forward to learning more.

Congrats! I just picked up my 2k2 SE Wednesday. Its hard to believe how much they improved these cars since 2000. It looks like the same car but it sure doesn't drive like it. I wanted the charcoal leather in mine, too but there wasn't one anywhere near and I didn't want to wait. What can I say, patience has never been one of my strong points!

Did you happen to get the Navi system?

It's all in your head Sudz. Everything is the same except the engine. And you guys actually got softer suspension than the 2000-2001 model. They went more for luxury than sport now.

Nope. I live in a fairly small town and don't travel all that much so I didn't see the need for it. Especially for what it costs.

i noticed you called your thunderbird "the thunderchicken"....a friend of mine had a thunderbird and he called it "the superchicken". he has since sold it and got a 99 mustang GT.

whats with the chicken references?

On the chicken thing: One of my buddies always called it the Thunderchicken for some reason. I have no idea why. That car was damn quick for what it was though. Of course, the '99 GT motor with a bunch of bolt-ons that I swapped in probably helped it...

Of course, it couldn't touch the Cobra. I can count the number of cars I lost to in that on my hands. I don't have enough hairs on my head to count all the cars I beat in it though.

What ARE you talking about russ. Softer suspension hah.

A lot has changed, stiffer rear beam, 6-speeds instead of 5, in dash CD changer, steering wheel controls, trip computer, MUCH higher quality leather, door paneling and vinyl dash is higher quality stuff, auto-dimming rear view mirror, Titanium and aluminum accented interior trim. exterior, side skirts, new front end, HID's. I think I got my money's worth.

the only things i envy from a 2k2 are the extra horses and the hids. the "redesigned" front end is nastyyyyyyy!
