AE Sill Plates

I tried a search on this and couldn't find an answer. All you guys out there with the AE sill plates...do you find that they are all scratched up from peoples feet scuffing them. I really like the look but are they durable enough to withstand the occassional brush up. And if they are durable how do you guys keep them shiny and clean? Dont want to invest in them if they are gonna be wothless after 6 months.

if you find out let me know too. The only way I could think of was removing the aluminium piece before install wrap in thick clear plastic and heat shrink to fit then re-attach the aluminium piece to the plastic piece. I have them so far so good (few scratches )

For now I wax it make it slippery as hell and I tell my passengers be careful not to step on the silver piece it is slippery as hell

Me too. I wax them and tell people not to step on them. Mine are still looking pretty good after about 5 months.

If you use Miguires wax on them and then the 3m plastic polish, they will look like new again.

Enjoy!

I brush mine almost everytime I get into the car. So far, so scuffs or dents. Had them on for over a year. They still look great.

I just tell the animals in my car to be carefull! So far so good! So far all I have done to keep them clean is wipe them down with window water, however I think I will try wax as some of you have suggested that it works good.

Well, hell, they're sill plates. Isn't the purpose of sill plates to be sacrificial to protect the sills?

Do you buy welcome mats for your house, but tell the UPS guy not to step on it?

(Mine, still look pretty good, after 13 months. No big scuffs, but not alot of passangers, either.)

And how come you guys want to make your car look like mine?

I have had the sill plates on my car now for six months, and they look real good. They seem to be real durable, only a few small scratches, which is gonna happen on any sill plate! I even had them on through the winter months, with lots of snow. (Northern NY). I think they are a great investment, they aren't expensive and they really make your car look sharp when you open the door. Actually the ones that came with the car are cheap flimsly plastic. Hope this helps.

How much are these sill plates and where can I get a set? I keep hearing about them but I've yet to see a price or a place to get them. I think they are one of the sharpest looking appearance mods out there for the Max.

Go with DAVEB in Texas. Price might be a little higher, but he'll get them to you quick and in perfect condition.
