Good news is that you guys probably don't have to listen to me crabbing about my screechy mounts anymore because I received the follwing message today:

"Unfortunatly(for who?) Nissan has rejected your request to replace the engine mounts as based on observations by both the Service Manager and Nissan Field Engineers who have declared that there is nothing wrong with your car and the noises are normal and are at an acceptable level.(For who?)"

He then again said that Nissan is willing to offer me the Gold Security Plus plan which is 6/100,000.

I'm tired of this arguing with him (Zone Rep). Basically he has flat out told me NO...Nissan will not fix a non-existant problem(not in those exact words but you get the idea...even though they tried a few times to fix it) I have a feeling that pushing my point will not go any further with him at least.

Still plan on a letter writing campaign...maybe won't do any good but will make me feel like I've pursued other options.

Funny... I received in the mail today Nissan asking me to buy an extended service plan What timing!

I called him back and told him how disapointted I was in Nissan and blah, blah, blah but would take him up on his offer of the Gold Plan (heck it goes for $1225.00). Left a message on what I needed to do to make this happen.

Thanks to all who have put up with mt rants about this headache of a car I've had since day one....I'm really envious of you guys who have good Max's as I really do like the car minus the faults it has.

At least the engine has not cooked like it has on some Passats I'm reading about...yikes!

Heh

Very true Matt...very true...thinking of painting the car grasshopper green

PS The Nissan rep called me back and stated it was a 7/100000 plan....whatever..would rather stay with the 5/60000 and have the car fixed....guess it not to be

riddle me this bat friend...

what would 7yrs and 100000 miles of the same kind of service really net you? not much satisfaction thats for sure. I say, get the 7yr/100K. it will help you dump the car. doubt it will get you *alot* more in resale, but it will make it easier to sell. I think I should have looked alittle harder at a preowned Lexus. ewwww, preowned

I would go with what you can get, at this point (e.g. 5/60000). It is better than nothing...

PS: Waiting for the day my car starts chirping.

Mine has steadily been making more noises (since I bought it)..

Day 1 - you could hear a pin drop..

NOW, I find more squeaks, and rattles with each progressive day.. (perhaps I drive faster with each progressive day.. who knows)

Quick Fix : Turn up the radio :-)

-Still waiting for it to chirp...

PS.. did the Nissan Reps HEAR the recording you made... cuz that sounded pretty convincing.. I'm no expert, but I would certainly say that there was something amiss with that car... (be sure to include a tape/audio attachment with any letter of complaint you write ...)

Yep...

I called back and took their offer of the 7/100000...I figure anyway I look at it they (Nissan) are not going to correct the noise so I can either continue to press for them to fix it and get nowhere and no warranty extension or I can continue to press and take the extended warranty. I chose to take the extension and continue to look for a way to eliminate this annoying noise

Tim...yes I did that for that very reason...maybe wont add $$ on to the resale but may help in selling the car(if I choose to do so) quicker with a 7/100000.

I had my Air Force Reserve weekend today and found out that one of the guys in my unit is the service manager at Frost Nissan in Newton MA! I asked him if he ever heard of a Maximas electronic engine mounts making a screeching noise and he look at me a little weird. He thought a little more and said that he may have seen a TSB that just came out with something to do with the tourque adjustment on the mounts...told me to call him anytime and he would take a look at it....I felt funny asking him to come out and listen to my car as I don't know him all that well and not sure how people react to requests like that out of work(know what I mean?)

I'm not sure if he understands what I'm really talking about as I havent seen a new TSB on the NHTSA board for a while....maybe they are a little behind when the Nissan dealers get theirs? Maybe, but just maybe all my b!tching to Nissan couls have paid off? I'm not getting overly optimistic but having another Nissan dealers Service Manager willing to take a look at it cant be all bad.....and to be fair I did fill him in on what I have been going through with Nissan and how they said that there is no problem...I dropped the Nissan reps name and he knows who I am talking about....hopefully he'll listen to the car and say "That is just not right"

Maybe good news? I could use it right about now

Tom- Nissan had their East coast big shots out to listen and test my car and said the noise is a normal function of all 2k and 2k1 Maximas

Re: Yep...

Hmm... well than my QUIETER Maxima must therefore be defective...

Guess I should take it to the dealer so that he could isolate my LACK of NOISE, and promptly FIX IT.. so that it chirps within factory specifications.. :-)

Good luck... let us know how it turns out !!
