I believe I paid somewhere in the $180-200 range for the mirror.

 

Where did you hook up the power for your Auto Dimming Mirror?

 

how did you go about doing the swap?

 

I am not sure about the windshield cracking easily....I had no trouble getting the original mirror off. I gently, but firmly pushed the mirror up towards the headliner and it came off. There is no screw to loosen.

 

I ran the wire behind the headliner and down the A-pillar to the fuse box and wired it to the fuse for the accessory power outlet (the power socket on the back of the center console).

I didn't drill a hole through the fire wall for the outside temperature probe. I ran the wire behind the door seal by the fuse box, attaching the wire to the black door hinge ( so the wire would have stability). Ran the wire under the hood on the left fender and attached the temperature probe in the front bumper.

The instructions that come with the mirror are very straight forward ....shouldn't be a difficult.

People with a 2000 GXE or an SE without auto climate control might be interested.
