2K problems/any same?/fixes
2K problems/any same?/fixes
i have a 2000 maxima SE. i'm in the u.s. army stationed in germany, so not many people have a 5th gen maxima...in fact i've only found one other. was talking to him today and he has the same exact problems as me: have a weird noise that sounds like a antenna raising/lowering coming from the right side of the engine (if you are standing in front of the car) everytime i turn off the car or when i start it going from park to reverse; my BOSE cd receiver creates scratches on my CDs...had it replaced in the states and the new one does it too. i'm just going to order a CD changer so i don't have to replace the whole thing (speakers, receiver, amp). but, for the strange noise i'm totally stomped as to what is causing it. my dad thinks it maybe the idler pulley??? anyone have this strange noise problem and if so, how did you fix it (if you fixed it)??
also had the rotor/brake pad problem. my problem came along at 40K miles. granted, i drive on the autobahn everyday so i go above 110 mph all the time. german dude said if you brake at high speeds you will simply blow the rotors out very quick. replaced them and the car is good now and i'm driving it differently.
i have been very very very impressed with BMW and Audi here in germany. those cars are solid. Audi A4 3.0 liter w/quattro is AMAZING!! will prolly get one of those when i leave...tax free sales to military over here on all german cars!!!
also, seems like nissan suspension systems completely suck...any recommendations?
if you read all this, thanks and if you reply with some useful information, double thanks

hmmm
I assume you have an auto, your noise is probably the electronic motor mounts. there is a service bulletin for it.
There are no real issues specific to sustained 110mph speeds, other than needing a tranny cooler. Your rotors most likely warped because of incorrect torque on your lug nuts. Over 90~93 is too much.
