They will roll down with the remote, but how come it doesn't do the same with the lock button (roll up)???

It seems kinda gay to be able to roll down, but not up...

That has been my boggle for the longest time. I guess they thought it is more important to get the windows down on a hot day then getting them up on a rainy day....

Actually, it might be...

some kind of safety overkill...

someone probably thought (and often rightly so) that there would be some stupid people who have likely also bred and now there is a flurry of arms and hands that could get caught in a window unless you were inside the car to monitor the situation and then decide it was safe to roll them up...

BTW - I don't think you need to turn the key three times for it to roll down. I just hold the key in the unlock position for a few seconds.

I thought that the windows had an automatic safety feature that either stops or rolls the window back down if their is something caught in it's path. I thought I read that somewhere in another forum.

Maybe I'll try it later this afternoon. If my reply typing is kinda funny.....you'll know it didn't work...

It WORKS!!

HA HA,

I am such a tool. As soon as I read that I walked outside and tried it. Yup. As soon as it hits your hand it goes down half way. That makes me smile.

2000??

Does anyone know if any of this works on 2K's? My mom had a 99 (sold it ) and she was able to do that kind of stuff to, but I have played around and didn't find anything like that for the 2k. Just curious.

What are you asking...

if the windows come down automatically or if the window will stop if it hits your hand?

If they come down. Right now, I think I have to start my car to get the windows down. Will they do it remotely?

short end of the story, not without an aftermarket alarm type installation...

WRONG!

I had a 97 Max and it would roll down the windows with the remote. Yes your 99 should work fine. just hold down the unlock button on your remote. You might have to push it twice to do it, something makes me think I had to push twice and hold.

Isn't there a way to roll up the windows with the remote too (with the lock button)???
I could've sworn I did that a couple of times to show off to some girl
or maybe it was a dream

Nope, the 2k and 2k1's don't have it. You realize that we got screwed. I really like the body style of the 4th gen, the power of the 2k2 and I got stuck right in the middle with a 2k. Oh well, You win some and lose some. I love my car though, so I guess it was a tie.

WHOA!! I had no idea I had this function in my 2K2 Max. (Not that I would have ANY practical need for it!)

You'd be surprised at what you learn when you read the manual/instructions.

Here's more on the auto roll-down feature. If you hold the unlock on the remote, they will roll down about a quarter of the way. If you press and hold again, they roll down completely. But I haven't found a way for them to go up, either.

And you are right. I had a 2k1 and it didn't have this feature. I guess enough complaints came in from the 4th gen folks that traded for 5th gens. Can't figure why they eliminated it for the 00 and 01 models. I find it very useful when the car has been parked outdoors for a long time to get the heat out of there.
