2000 maxima se 5 speed 131 mph ?
nissan states 143 mph. I hit 131 and that was it.
does anyone know what i can do to get rid of the limiter?
reprogram the computer,but where?
when i called nissan they stated that it depends on the state, east coast and west coast maximas differ because of the emmission. is this BS or what. some of you post that you have been over 131 ,what state are you from,I'm from connecticut. hopefully STILLEN will make a chip for this car.

 

Hmmm.....thats weird that your 5sp stopped at 131. It seems that the AUTO's are limited at 133, 5th gen that is, no matter which model. The 5sp gxe would be limited at like 115 cuz it comes with cheap tires.

Whats funny is that you called nissan......AND THEY ACTUALLY TOLD YOU. "Hi, my maxima stopped accerating at 131.....whats wrong"

But seriously...that car does and can go up over 140. It has loads of top end power.

There is another thread here in the last few days where somebody asked the same question. I think the answer was that the 5 speed SE and GLE can do 143. but auto was 131. Check down the list.

IT WAS PRETTY FUNNY ASKING THAT QUESTION,BUT HEY THATS WHAT THEY ARE THERE FOR.ANYWAY AT 131 I FELT A FUEL CUT BUT DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH ROAD TO CONTINUE MAY BE NEXT TIME.I ALSO HAVE STILLEN BODY KIT, EIBACH SPRINGS,STILLEN FRONT TOWER BRACE.K&N FILTER,AND 17 INCH SNIPERS ROLLING ON 235/45 ZR SUMETOMO TIRES.SO IF IT'S POSSIBLE I SHOULD DO THE 143 STATED.STILL LOVE THIS CAR IT CAN RUN WITH SOME OF THE BEST OUT THERE.

 

Hmm.. i thought we came to the conclusion (the last time this issue came up)that only GXE's were governed at lower speeds because of the stock tires they ship with..

Oh,.,. and apparently cruise doesn't work @ 130mph.. bummer...

 

GXE limited to 115mph, you sure .looking at speedo at 125mph.

Cruise control doesn't work above 100mph, i believe, something like, statelaw about speedlimits... =)

 

Hey.. I'm sure KIA owners don't have these kinds of problems / hold these kinds of threads on their boards... (ehh, "my KIA won't go above 80 mph, and I can't engage cruise above 5,000 RPM)

hehe.. :-) I love it that Nissan even talked about this problem with you.. I would've expected them to say something like "This is a normal condition, workaround = don't drive that fast sir.. goodbye"
