Pulled over!

just got pulled over yesterday night, damn polarg lights in the front and rear clears are gonna cost me $100 for the front and $100 for the rear. thats more then the speeding ticket. what really ****ed me off is that when i get pulled over its always at a time when im not trying to go fast. whats the deal with that, im not askin to get pulled over or nothin its just weird that it always works out that way. they actually pulled me over with 2cop cars. they didnt say anything about my headlights, turnsignals, or anything else? what im tryin to find out is that if i tell the judge that i didnt know it was illegal would they wave the fee for the lights???? ill pule the amber and red bulbs in when i go to court but im just stubborn and im gonna leave the polargs in later they look too good to take out, forget that. any1z 2cents would be appriciated

It may be different where you are, but I've had friends get tickets for the same thing...turn signals, corners, taillights. Usually what they have to do is change the lights to legal specs, and then show proof of that when they went to court. THen the fees either get dropped or at least lowered.

Hey man that REALLY sucks. i have polarg's in the front and rear clears too, but so far i've never gotten any grief from them. they look so much better than stock i wouldn't change them either. but if ur cops are enforcing it, i would play it safe, unless u can afford more 200 dollar fines. but i feel for u...if u weren't even speeding, no point of pullin u over.

I would say that's a good thing. Just change everything and maybe take pictures of it to show the judge. Definitely claim you didn't know until they pulled you over, etc...

will come outside and smash all your lights out with a ball bat. j/k Consider yourself lucky you didn't get hit with multiple tickets. I remember an org member about 9 months ago got hit with all the fines and it was about a grand total.

Trust me, I know how you feel on that one. I've been pulled over times in the last 6 months, and given various tickets 3 times. Fortuanately I got a good lawyer that gets everything dropped...but that's still a ton of $ thats no longer in my bank account.

and *looks* are worth "a ton of $" ... ??? It's illegal, cops in your areas are ticketing for it, but you're willing to keep them in anyway? I wish I had that kind of money to spare.

What city exactly (I'm in AZ too)? Some courts are more lenient than others. Most of the time, you can treat it as a fix it. Just bring in the receipt for whatever you buy and say, listen, I had no idea it was illegal, but I will pay the ticket for speeding, but I cannot afford the lighting ticket because I bought new bulbs, etc, etc. You should be okay.

I got the courier fee and late fee waived in a photo radar ticket in Scottsdale. All I had to do was agree to pay the ticket.

Hey check the wheel post again.

let me know if you are interested.

Like Ive sugggested 50 times on the board...... Get LED ambers and REDS... they are colorless, during the day, and look great at night. They are worth the money , and dont look like the stock lights ! During the day, the CLEARS look CLEAR ! At night ..... ...awesome !

DAMN! I swear cops around here are pretty lax. I drive through Phoenix 1-2 per month(mostly at night) and have never had a problem.

Are they BLUE? Blue is the only color lights I've ever heard of cops messing with around here.

The only thing I have different is Super Whites in the front clears and nothing in the rear clears.

I think he was just being a D!CK and looking for something else to give you a ticket for. I'd put them back to stock, take pictures, go to court, and then put the Polargs back in. Or just do NOT have lights. They look great during the day and don't even matter at night. There is NO WAY I'd put up with that even if I had to pay $200 every once in awhile, but that's just my personality. I see ricers around Tucson/Phoenix all the time with blue/green/red/white windshield washer lights, corners, $15 cheap blue sylvania headlamp bulbs, and neons all the time. Apparently, there is a way around it, otherwise it wouldn't be so popular.

when the guys are saying "clear corners" they are referring to the "white" or "clear" lenses that replaces the stock orange/red lenses.

i believe that in most states the clear corners are illegal. however the popos dont really bother you about it unless you are pulled over for some other type of violation, i.e. speeding.

during the day there is nothing that can be done, but at night, to minimize the chances of getting a ticket... instead of putting "white" or "blue" bulbs in the corners one can put amber (orange) bulbs in the front and red bulbs in the rear and APPEAR stock at night. this is most likely when youre going to be pulled over for having "illegal lights."

i hope this cleared it up for you some. its 340am here. im tired.... imsomnia sucks.

Definitely the best solution, and cheap too (especially when compared to a citation)

OK I have a question... Are we talking about the lens in the bumper on the side of the car? If so, check your local laws, I doubt very seriously that there is any mention of any laws regarding side-marker lights, let's face it that is what they really are. However, there are laws dictating proper lighting for the front and rear of the car, and this is what the police usually use against you. I live in KY, and luckily here, one of our local speed shops went to the law books, photocopied the actual law, and then posted many copies in his shop for all of us to put into our car so that when and if we get pulled over we can just show the cop the actual statue, and basically say kiss my ***. Go to the library, check your local statute and go in to court prepared.

Where can we order them from (i'm a baby at this modding thing )??

and does the law say the actual bulb has to be red or orange, or does it say the light emitting has to be red or orange (hence the colored lenses)?

I think putting amber or red bulbs in looks like ****! The red looks pink and the amber looks some gross yellow orangish. Not my style. I'd rather have no color than those colors.

If the police are strickly cracking down, just leave the bulbs out. You can still have the daytime sweet look of clears and at night NO FUGLY amber/red. It's an easy solution and it's FREE.

ignorance is not a valid excuse and the judge will tell you that. its like trying to say you didn't know how fast you were going when you get a speeding ticket.

Yes, but everything is negotiable. They would much rather settle on generating a hundred bucks or so for the traffic ticket than have to worry about suspending your license if you fail to pay altogether.

Usually in AZ, you get a "fix it" ticket. The judge will most likely waive the fine if you apologize, plead ignorance (but don't be too over the top about it- That will just **** him off), and most importantly- Take pics and bring receipts showing that you fixed it. The fact that you took the initiative to replace the bulbs should impress the judge and he will most likey waive it.

But nothing is ever certain....

ok ill just explain thw whole thing, it happend right up the street from where u live. first of all i was gonna make a right at greenway, i was on 32nd headed north(towards greenway) a friend of mine called me so i look down at the phone for a sec and by the time i saw who it was i missed the light, so i went staight and made a right no Bell rd. now this is where i got pulled, i was driving straight in the middle lane (almost no cars) at 11:00pm as i got clost to the harkins theater on my left side, i think it was the 3400st light that i saw a cop sittin there waitin to make a left so i let off the gas i never hit 50, then i got chaught at the 51 freeway light. while it was red a cop pulled right behind me and the one i saw on the left to me left, i made a right lane change and so did both of them, so i knew i was screwed, less the 3sec later lights are goin off, so i just pulled in the cheveron at 38th and bell, took those @SS holes like 20min to give the ticket. after like 15min, i was gettin irritated and was about to stick me arm out the window and wave to them but the idiot walked up and started sayin all this crap about my goin 60 which i know i didnt, i dont care ill pay the ticket just i dont way my insurance to go up higher and he screwed me with the light thing,l i have to go to the court on 3rd st and washington, in downtown its a damn maze there i hate that place.

Yeah, that's, REALLY close to my house. That's my gas station!

Bring the fact that you know you weren't speeding up to the judge and use it as leverage to get the lighting ones lifted.

When was the last time you went to traffic school? How old are you?

Inspect that ticket and look for ANY inaccurate information. Is the color of your car correct? I once beat a ticket because the dumb cop wrote my car was black and it was green. I convinced the judge that it was not me that was speeding and that he must have pulled over the wrong vehicle (there were other variables involved as well though....}

Was radar used? Laser? Who was the technician that last calibrated the radar unit? How long ago was it calibrated? When was the last time he and the cop received certification on the unit? If you want to beat a ticket finding this stuff out is a bit helpful.

If he just got a pace on you, then was he ever in sufficient position to trail you with a pace? It doesn't sound like it. And although they are trained to pace you with their eye, they almost always try to follow you and get a readout on their speedometer

3rd and Washington....ahhh yes, such a familiar place. Memories.... It's easy to find. It's on the west side of Washington.
