Is it necessary to get an alignment after installing a FSTB??? Seems like I wouldn't, but better safe than sorry.

 

No it's not. If you haven't done the install yet make sure you do not over tighten the bolts, 35ft.lbs is enough.

 

I got the OBX GX Style bar - pretty nice unit, but question the quality at $50 (E-Bay), how about adjusting the tension on that... How do I know when enough is enough?

 

When the bolt snaps you will know you have gone too far.

 

I was referring to the tension of the bolts connecting the bar to the strut towers, not the actual tension of tightening the bar. Remember you do not want to overtighten either way, you do not want to overstress the bolts connecting your bar to the strut towers. Thanks for the link - I didn't now how much to torque those bolts prior to your mentioning either... So as far as setting the tension on the bolts (as shown in your figure 2), just stop when it feels 'tight enough'?

 

anyone else having problems installing the stillen fstb? Everything is fine except there is a piece that sticks out of the strut tower that blocks the right ring from fitting in place correctly. I can't cut it off cuz it secures my frankencar intake in place. Should i cut part of the ring? Its only about a 1cm piece that i would have to cut off. Thanks for the help in advnace.

BTW i have a 2002 GLE if that makes a difference. I heard something about the strut being made for 2001 but can be made to fit the 02.

I suspect that if you lenghten or shorten the bar length excessively you could effect the camber by pushing or pulling the strut towers in or out. It may be tempting to do this for clearance.
