ok last night cruising into Beverly Hills, out the corner of my eye, I see this black SUV pulls along side me. All of a sudden I hear his engine rev and his nose go about half a car length in front of me.

Reflexively, my brain sends an impulse to my foot, and it's on. I quickly caught up with him, and it was a little tight as I was trying to make him having a head start. But within a few seconds, the Max easily overtook him. It was over very quickly because of parked cars in his lane.

There was a brief moment of anxiety when I looked in my rear view mirror to catch his headlights and thought I saw the siren rack on top of his car (BH police have grips of black SUV cruisers).

Anyway, he pulls up along side me at the light a bit later when I got to get a good look and see what I'd just beaten. He rolls down his window and says, "Damn that's a fast little car."

"yea it is", and we nodded at each other and went on our way.

I dunno what those things have under the hood, but I love beating SUVs at their own game. Some of those drivers just seem to think by being higher up they own the damned road!

 

Grand Cherokee 5.9L Limited, it is pretty fast. It gave me a good run. Also ML55, never ran against one, but I hear they pretty fast. BMW X5 V8 is pretty fast too. Oh yeah and Typhoon. I got killed by it in 540 6-speed. Damn one fast SUV.

5.9 L on existed in the previous generation Grand Cherokee
TSI's. They are pretty fast. The currently model's top-of-the-line engine choice will be a 5.2 liter V8 pumps out 215HP, IMO , they are ok. They launch quickly, but loses steam after the rev climbs up

I have a similar exhaust setup as your Max. Cattman SS Y, intake , custom 2.25" B-pipe. Do you realize any gain from the Dynomax SS muffler? How does it sound?? Can u please post up a pic if its available.

I did dyno the car after the cat-back change and realised a 8hp increase. As for the sound, I really like it but then that stuff is very subjective. If I can I'll try to record it and post it here on the forum.

P.S. Man, sorry I'm not in NY anymore. Moved to Florida in the summer and now NY seems to be jumpin' with u maxima guys. When I was there, nothin' was goin' on..now looks like the maxima crew is takin' over. I'll try to stop by yo_its_ok's shop whenever I'm in town....
