Jack Stands with OEM jack
Jack Stands with OEM jack
Hey guys I just bought some caliper paint to paint my calipers but the kid that I usually borrow the jack and jack stands from is using them for his klunker truck
I'm really low on money but i can get jack stands for like 25 bucks is it safe to buy the jack stands and jack up both sides with the OEM jack?? Please let me know quick cause I want to do this today
Thanks for the advice

sure, if the jack stands are good (not defective or mangled) they should work. The fact that you use your OEM jack is of no consequence. Remember, like they always warn you, do not use the jack as a stand, and that's what is important here. Especially with an OEM jack. They are not very stable. Make sure you block your tires too, just for safety. I always think of it this way before I get under my car: What is the one thing that will take a minute or two to do that I will regret for the rest of my life ( or not have a life) not having done to make sure it is absolutely safe to go under the car? ONce you've answered that question... go for it
If it's for a one time job, buy jack stands from Costco and return them the next day. They ask no questions!
You can buy a 2 ton floor jack too and do the same thing.
The OEM jack will do, but as what was mentioned before just make sure you don't do anything to the car until it is resting on sturdy jack stands.

I bought the three ton ones and I couldn't even get them under my car. I returned them and got the 2 ton ones at Checker for $10. THOSE BARELY fit under my car.
Plus my jack is starting to mangle the spot on my car where the jack goes....
