Updating a 2001 AE
Well,
First question is 'What do you want it to look like?'.
Some like somewhat 'ricer' changes like certain rims, body kit changes, etc. Some like minor cosmetic changes like e-brake handle boots, or more major like a full aftermarket leather interior. By your post I take it this conversation need not focus on performace modifications.
Again, what do YOU want?

Thanks for the response
Really, I want more eye appeal for the car inside and out. I have a dark dash and interior (charcoal), so something to dress these areas up would be great. As far as the exterior, I have factory rims (AE) and light grey pinstriping and window tinting. I think the car could use more chrome, maybe different rims and tires
(I have factory Potenzas). I am not concerned about performance modifications ... just some ways to dress up the car to make it sharper than it already is. Thanks

OK...
since you have already mentioned specific items that you have thought about, use the SEARCH function near the MAXIMA.ORG banner above to serach on terms like 'tint', 'rims', 'dash kits', etc. TONS of info out there on just about anything.
For safety's sake, let alone appearance, get your butt off those death donut RE92's!! There are huge threads on which tires to get, what size to go with, etc., so search away. Personally I ended up with a taller tire in a 225 55/17 with all the safety margins (correct rim width, acceptable load rating, etc.) to get a slightly more compliant ride while maintaining a pretty high level of cornering, etc. One side benefit, they fill the wheel wells up pretty nicely...not such a large visual gap from tire to fender.

Again, do some searching and you will...
find nearly eveyone hates them, particularly in the rain...you might as well have slicks on.
How much do you want to spend ($100 each, almost $200 each)? Do you want a taller tire or stock size? What are your driving conditions (use the car in snow at all?)? Yes, there are tires out there that people like and recommend, but it depends on your answer to these kinds of questions....

id say the mods you want could become costly quite quickly.
probably the most affordable would be a dash kit. aluminum, wood, or carbonfiber. i prefer the carbon fiber myself, however, my interior is frost and im doubtful it would flow well with the frost [tan] color of my interior very well. Shadow on the org would be able to hook you up with a kit.
for rims, it all depends on what you like and what you want. some are quite affordable and go for around $100-200 for each. others, the lightweight racing rims go for $400-600 to even $1000 for EACH rim! again, it all depends on what you want. check out www.tirerack.com and look at their online catalog of wheels.
if youre going to get new rims, new tires would also be a necessity if you are going to be getting a bigger size. purchasing the correct tire and an acceptable tire is extremely important and there is a great deal of information on this subject that you can find on the org. try the FAQ stickys up at the top and look for the appropriate subject. if you have specific questions, i would PM y2kse. hes really cool and knows what the hell he is talking about. for a lot of people the tires are just as much of a "mod" as the other more visually stimulating ones. they are extremely important, i mean, we use them everytime we use the vehicle. tires is not an area you want to neglect or be cheap IMO. the most praised tire on the org is the michelin pilot sport a/s. try a search on this tire and you'll find that everyone loves this tire. fyi, theyre around $200 a tire, give or take a little depending on shop, etc.
another mod that many if not most maxima owners have are the clears sidemarkers. this is what they look like. they replace the orange frong and red rear lens that the maxima comes with... a much needed improvement IMO.

you have an AE so you already have a bodykit on your car. something else that you might want to consider is getting a new paintjob. a color that you may find more appealing. a new paintjob is going to be the last thing i do to my car... i already have the color chosen...
heh, i hope you found some of my droning useful. good luck with your car.

Wood dash kit would look good on the dark colored interior. The clear lamps would do it justice, plug a general lowering of the car (springs). Also, I took off my sun roof deflector and I feel it makes the car look for streamlined and not like it is wearing a baseball cap (it took a bit of getting used to, though).

Has anyone blacked out the plastic chrome trim that goes around the windows? Other than the Nissan logo on the front, it's the only chrome on the car...
