Maxima Abuse

1) I crash my maxima into a curb damaging Lower Control Arm, and Spindle Housing on the right front of car as well as scraping and denting my bumper and seriously ****ing up the visuals of my rims.

2) I go to get an allignment and it turns out the camber is 1.5 degrees off, which is too much causing drifts... I start saving up money to replace struts

3) I finally get Tokico Blues and H&R Springs weeks later and take a look at my wheels, turns out I drove too much with the camber off and really wore down front tires and causing outside wear on both sides. I was going to sell these with tires as soon as I buy new rims and send the damaged one to be fixed.

4) I get $200 to get the bumper repainted and was taking it down to get it fixed as well as having Nissan replace the rubber trim (wind noise) on Saturday... I am driving to the mall and a peice of metal the size of a large rat trap flies out of the truck in front of me and puts a 1.5 foot DEEP gash in the left side of my bumper. I seriously doubt it can be painted over... Anyone know anything about Bondo?

5) I am in the Wal-Mart parking lot the next day and a shopping cart attacks by rear-view mirror making a 3" scratch (not deep at all)

My car takes alot of abuse... I have so many scratches around my car it's not even funny. I am having Nissan touch everything up (or should I have them do major scratches and do the rest myself?). I need to put something on the front of my car and mirrors to protect it... I want a 3M Clear but I don't have the money and its not enough protections.

In your opinion, would having one of those custom made vinyl nose masks as well as mirror masks be hideous on a Grey Lustre 2K2 Maxima?

You think I don't take care of my car? The crash was obviously an accident and the rest couldn't be helped. I didn't "make" the metal fly out of the truck and I don't key my own car.

I drive alot and I live in an area with alot of bugs. Next time reply with something of actual value.

Roger, roger on that

What about when other ppl practice parallel parking with your car (NYC) and their strategy is you're there when you hit the maxima in front of or behind you...

Has anyone heard of a forcefield for a car, easily my next mod if someone can find me one and I can afford it

I feel your pain... it seems as though my Majestic Blue '02 has a target on it. Part of it is the cheesy-a$$ paint Nissan uses. I am very happy with the everything on the car except the water-colors-quality paint. I'm going to Acura, Lexus or BMW for my next new car... Unless Nissan does something about the paint.

don't worry, I was just pulling your leg, and missed the smiley at 4-5-6am or whenever it was in the morning

I feel your pain though; I got my first giant ding after somebody launched something at my car while parked on my friend's street.. left a nice large kick-like dent in the door the week I picked up my car... the scratch is still sorta there but the dent's gone now! phew!

GOOOD LORD!!! the same thing happened to my car!!!
Curb run into from Mass ave, wet roads, sucky *** stock RE92s, and crazy potholes = danger!

Skrewed up my toe and camber, mashed my control arm, gashed up my front and rear rims and tires, left a small hole in my front bumper....Its being repaired by insurance. arrrrrrg!

I know I should have upgraded to new shocks/struts, new front body kit and new wheels and tires...but I needed the car soon, and didn't know what stuff to get.

life sux huh?

don't fight it man. no matter what u do, how much you're careful with the car, you'll always get scratches and dents and bird poop. it's like getting that brand new shoe, u first starting wiping every little dirt speck on it. then after a while, u don't care and it gets covered with mud.

I could really really use one of those too...

hey melteye:

I feel your pain brother.....but in response to your question regarding the vinyl nose masks......sounds hideous.
I've never seen one of those but I would think they wouldn't look too good.

I don't think the vinyl bras work worth a crap. They just collect sand and grind it into your finish. They would have to be removed and cleaned every other day.

I haven't tried the 3M clear front surface protector but if it looks like you have gunk on your finish and it can't be removed without taking clear coat and paint with it, there is no point to putting it on in the first place.

I had a vinyl front end mask on my red '93 Prelude (sorry to admit to guys) and lived on the coast of South Florida with frequent runs to the beach and the clockwork afternoon thunderstorms. For the last 2 years of ownership, I got more and more lax and often let it dry right on the car.

When I took it off to trade the car in, nothing!! no scratches, no gouges, no abraded corners, and the 2 best things, no bug guts and no chips.

If I could EVER find a bra for my AE, I would buy it immediately!

Check out www.xpel.com for the clear bras and www.autoseattle.com for the Colgan Bras. Both are available for the AE.
