Manual and S/C

Anyone out there running a manual transmission with supercharger? I am toying with long term planning for mod's and was curious as to how many 5th Gen's were like this, what special 'bulletproofing' was needed on the tranny, etc.

Ideally I would be eventually doing this to a 2001.

Thanks!

As far as preparing for the SC, which I reconsider every day, it is generally a good idea to upgrade the clutch before you boost.

Re: Re: Manual and S/C

I know you said you got your Vortech supercharger from Stillen, but I can't find any reference to a Stillen supercharger for Maximas on their site. Did you have to call and talk to a sales guy specificially to get your SC system?

Thanks,

Seth

However, it is only fitted for the VQ30, not the VQ35.

Thank you Michael.

The Stillen site says that kit is only for '00s and '01s. I don't think that would work on my '02 since Nissan boosted hp to 255, do you?

Thanks.

That's what I was saying...You have a VQ35 (2002 & 2003), the SC is only for the VQ30 (2000 & 2001). So, no it would not work on your '02 Maxima.

There are questions as to whether you have room in your engine bay, but you can always buy the V2 from Vortech directly and then pay a shop to custom build a kit for your Maxima, which when it was all said and done would probably cost you enormous amounts of time and money which would be better spent on an M5 or something like that.

I have a manual and an SC also. Dont order from "stealin" though. Order from Avalonracing.net they are cheaper if you want to order an SC. You will need to get a better clutch eventually bont you wont need it right away. I waited about 4 months before I upgraded to an ACT clutch. Do alot of research on pulley sizes and mods if you decide to run more than stock boost too! Good luck...

Re: Manual and S/C

Thanks Deac,

I just picked up my '02 SE 6-speed on Sunday. I'm still waiting to pass the 1,000 mile break-in period, but hope to start working on some mods in the next few months.

Thanks again.
