...What about this 2002 Control Arm Suspension TSB I have been hearing about, it is not on Nissan's website... Any 'VIN numbers affected' lists on this one???

It is a recall, not a TSB. I believe all 02s are affected, as I haven't heard of anyone not being affected.

Your best bet is to call your Nissan service department and have them check your VIN #. They will then be able to schedule you if you need it done.

Had mine done yesterday. Kid made it seem like they were all affected. He checked my vin and I was in it. Took 35-40 min. Worth it.

I am getting oil change soon and I will ask about this Recall.
Do you think they will say anything about H&Rs installed on my car?

I think the only change the control arm and they don't touch the strut/spring assembly.

...Will you please let me know? Seriuosly, I have the H&R springs and I don't want any problems, will you tell me what they say about them when you go in? Also, try to get a feel for how urgent this control arm fix is... Thanks!

you guys worry too much. how can a different spring effect if they perform a RECALL or not! the only thing that they can say about ur springs is that if ur stock struts blow thats ur problem! other than that nothin else. they wont say hey ur engine threw a rod bc u put springs on ur car. loosen up they HAVE to prove ur part made it break!

Well will, considering that this is a recall specifically concerning suspension setup, and we have modified suspensions that we have been told tends to void our warranty in that area, I am sure you can understand our concern. I have just heard of this recall, it is not even on Nissan's corporate website, and I don't know how urgent it is, so I am just trying to gather the facts, which is why I started this thread. So I hope you won't think I am too 'worried' if I ask a few questions...

That just basically means if your modification caused the problem then you're out of luck. (E.g. u installed aftermarket springs and your struts blew and they can prove it. The struts will no longer be under warranty)

Since this is basically a recall, mod or not, Nissan is obliged to fix the problem.

I called Performance Nissan in Lilburn, GA. Spoke to Matt in service gave him my vin. and he told me my car, which was purchased on 5/5/02, was not affected in the recall. So it looks like not all cars are involved.

Call your dealer and have your vin. ready. Maybe you'll be lucky too

i bought my car from there too. i used their service 4 weeks later when my tranny broke. they told me that i was speed shifting and thats y a 2 week old car with 2k miles on it was broken. after that they fixed the faulty parts in the tranny and one of their smart techs forgot to tighen a bolt down in 4th gear. 3 days later i was driving down the road and BOOOM bolt came off and cracked 4th gear in half. i will never go there again.

Just called, mine is affected. But they said I should have received mail notice already and I have received none! Thanks Nissan... What would I do without the .org to keep me up to date??? Seriously, I feel sorry for people who are just left out of the loop. I have an appointment for next week, it looks like this affects cars built before 2/02... Which mine was 12/01... I didn't have to go in for the pedal stopper because mine was newer than that but not new enuff for this one... 1 outta 2 ain't bad Nissan...

That would be great if the control arm fix would fix that annoying shudder in the steering wheel. I hate it.

Strange but my 2000 SE used to do that too, you would feel like something is moving in the steering wheel when going over bumps. There was no recall for that car, hmmm...

Every day on my way home I have to run over this brick cross walk. The cross walk is not the same level as the road, so there is a good bump. I would be going about 20 and the steering wheel would make this sound as if it weren't connected tightly. (this has been discussed before on this forum) Now after getting the recall done, I don't notice any shudder what so ever, the 2k2 feels just like my previous '95 did. I don't know if this is a just a "side effect" of the recall, or if that was one of the main reasons it was performed.

Well i am going to get mine done.. but heres a note..

In my moms 99 SE auto, i complained about this so many times, as if something is loose everytime i go over the bumps..

Nissan checked and rechecked it so many times and said everything is tight..

When i got my 2k2, i felt the same sensation in my brand new car.. SO i assumed it was a nissan thing...

So if the RECALL fixes it in the 2k2, i am going to go back to nissan and complain about my mom's 99... because hers still does it...

What the hell is wrong with the 2k2's?? Why is so many tsb's and recalls and other annoying problems...

I have never ever bought a car with so many problems in my life, and i sort of regret buying the 2k2.. I feel the the 4th gens were a ****LOAD better than my 2k2 because of these irrating problems..

In fact, my moms 99 with 130,000 kms never once had a problem with it, but in my first 5000kms with my 2k2, i can count 10 complaints and problems..

I should have saved up and bought something else like an Acura CL-S 6speed

I hear you. I starting to get ****** with my 2k2 annoyances... I have close to 4000 miles now and

- timing chain rattle won't go away
- 2 recalls, one of them (lower control arm) pretty scary!
- it seems my auto tranny is slipping
- shaky idling VQ
- misaligned rear door

Pretty bad showing for the Nissan flagship.

I really liked the car for all the features and performance and styling (which i still don't think is quite there yet consideirng the 4th gen is so much better)..

But when it comes down to it, its a great value for the money...

But then again, how many cars in this price range have this many irratating problems??

The steering radius is just outright retarded and should be a friggin recall, I don't know how many times i had to back out just to clear a turn that even my mom and dads cars can clear (99 Max SE and 2K E320 4 matic)..

The shifter problems is irratitaing, and 4th gear feeling crunchy is just as bad as my protege with 200,000 kms and wrecked syncrhos..

I wish i just took the car back and did some more homework, i knew there were problems but come on NISSAN, FLAGSHIPS are suppose to represent???!!!

Problems to date:
1. Brake shuddar
2. Poor turning radius
3. Acceleration hesitation
4. Jerky on=off throttle (traffic situations)
5. Dimly lit check engine light
6. Number of recalls and TSBS
7. Ugly taillights
8. HIDS's flash with the alarm when set off (STUPID NISSAN ENGINEERS)
9. Bose rattle (which i haven't fix because i hate bose and ripping it out)
10. Irratiging 4th gear feels crunchy (nissan says its norma)
11. STUPID multilink suspension... its even worse in the 2k2 becuase the suspension is tighter in the 2k2 than the 99, so rear end bumps really upset the handling
12. Costs too much for all the problems
13. I only had it for almost a month and i am not satisfied

Ed- Some of those issues you knew about before purchase, like the tailights, and th suspension. Did you test drive it! I wouldn't comment on the tranny, since I have an autotragic, but hopefully the hesitation will go recall for you. The brake shudder is a TSB, you can get it fixed. The turning radius, I agree, is pathetic. This will be something I look @ during all new car test drives from now on. The BOSE, well I got it, it's average, but you could have brought a CD or two to test it during test drive, that's what I did. If you are SO unhappy with it, just go trade it in. I for one love mine, I am very happy with my purchase. Or possibly I love the AE items I put in this morning

Dont get me wrong, i love my car, and there isn't anything out there that has 4 doors at that price, but given that i had a 99 SE to drive around for several years, i never really expected a newer model to be so plagued with issues!!! it was a hell of a surpirce for me

ANd give the fact that i am 24 and paying a premium for insurance and the price of the car, i wanted my first real car purchase to be much more enjoyable!!

Yes most o fthe issues i knew about, but come on.. how many times doyou test the turning radius of a car?? And i didn't even bother trying to test the bose, because i was plannin on ripping it out, but even the 99 SE bose audio was so much better thant the 2k2... My mom today rode my car and ask me why my stereo sucks worse than heres!!!!

No, I didn't test the turning radius either. Probably should have. Something to keep in mind for the future.
