The transverse link recall has to do with the control arms. My dealership did the repair in a couple of hours. And it is free.

I just got the transverse link replaced on my car and it was done in about an hour. No alignment required. The front end feels tighter and sharp bumps (like sunken manhole covers) don't cause the front end to shudder any more. It's not a lot of work, but at least the improvement is noticeable.

BTW, my 2k2 SE has 26,500 kms on it.

yup

I got mine done last week and alignment was required. But it does make everything feel tighter.

I'm currently getting the recall done. They told me that it was gonna take at least 4 hrs so they gave me a rental. My car's steering has been vibrating pretty bad lately and it's not just at certain speed but as soon as it moves. And when braking at an uneven road the steering moves a lot too. I just hope the recall fixes this. If not they better find out what's wrong with my car.

Hmmm, your comments about the vibrating steering on uneven roads.... I would get that maybe once or twice a week. I was thinking that maybe my rotors were warping (like a few on the org have had happen to them). I'm now thinking that it was the transverse link.

Interesting. Can't wait to see if it comes back.

I think I can assure you that the front suspension vibrations will be cured (got mine done this morning). Even my co-worker commented on the improved solidity of the ride at lunch.

I have FSTB, would they need to take that out? I think not?

Now if someone gets into an accident because of this (if one can prove it), would that be a legit case for lawsuit? The fact they did a recall do not reduce their liability? I am in Canada so doesn't matter. People don't sue as much here.

FSTB (front strut tower brace, right?) does not have to be removed. All of the work is done from underneath the car.

I was told that the transverse link won't 'fail', just get noisy and loose. After looking at the piece on/off the car, I believe them. I don't think it's a big safety issue at all.

DONE!

I got it done today at Glendale Nissan (IL). All I can say is WOW!! what a difference!
The "clunking" feedback through the steering wheel on bumps was ****ing me up BIG TIME! If your car is included in this recall, get it done ASAP. Took the dealer 1.5 hrs.
Also, I was gladly surprised with the dealer. I went to the same dealership several months ago for the accelerator stop recall and I was somewhat ****ed because the tech left some greasy marks all over my driver side door interior.
Today, the interior was as I left it, not a mark. And they washed it too. No scratches or dents either.
