Black cover on back of headlights

Black cover on back of headlights
I have a 2k2 Max GLE and when I popped the hood today I noticed that on one of my hid xenon lights there was a black cover covering the plug from the ballast. I could not find such cover on the passenger side light which I do believe was there before. Does anyone if the covers are necessary or of any consequences of not having it on? Also, does anyone know how much it would cost to replace that cover or if anyone had a spare from a broken housing they could sell? Thanks.

After you pop your hood and look at your headlamps from the back, in order to get to your xenon bulbs there s black cylindrical covering that you have to take off. I believe there is a orange warning sticker on the covering. After taking this covering off you see the plug from the ballast which I believe is red. After taking off the plug you see the back of the xenon bulb.
