well.. they DO have the same engine... but with the new g35 out, the maxima v. altima will soon be replaced with g35 v. maxima... imho, unless nissan changed the compression ratio, a 6 speed maxima can take a g35.

Yep, sounds about right. I believe the G35 Would be faster Stock for stock with its shorter ratio 5 speed automatic tranny.

Yeah, not sure about the G-35 Coupe with 6-speed. Weight will have a lot to do with it, I imagine. The Coupe might be a heavy sucker. The sedan is already a bit heavier than the Max at 3470 lbs. stock...the sports package increases the weight to 3600 lbs. I don't think the thing is going to fly or anything, but RWD will give it an advantage over the Max for sure.

Road & Track, in the latest sedan shootout (this month's issue) gave the G35 a 14.7 @ 95.2 with, of course, the 5-speed automatic.

On a side note, that about tied the 14.7 @ 96.3 which they pulled in the 330i 5-SPEED MANUAL.

Just as big of BS as most of the times people drop on this forum. I still trust them more than random posters on this board. In lieu of a timeslip, magazine times are the best thing we've got.

I don't think Road & Track reviewed the 2K2 Auto.

well you knew what i meant if you don't believe look at my timeslip on my homepage and look at the number on my car they match so mine is for real and totally stock too and i know a g35 is faster stock than a 2k2 auto max

motortrend tested the G35 in 1/4 mile at 14.6 with the BMW 330i doing 15.flat. Both autos.

I test drove the G35 before I bought my Max. I personally think it was slower. My Max is an auto too. There's no way a G35 could touch a 6 speed 2k2 Max (I drove one of those too). The G35 felt awfully heavy to me and didn't get up like my Max does. So for what it's worth, there's a report from my ultra sensitive butt-hair dyno.

There are also some that go by the name of Neal, pay in cash while wearing soccer shorts and sandals. Gotta love a dealer's face when you pull that one off

Re: G 35 Vs 02 Max Auto
