Does the 2K2 Max have a MAF screen?

I was just wondering if the 2K2 Max had a screen in front of the Mass Airflow Sensor? If so, will removing it help airflow and should I remove it?

There's been quite a bit of discussion about removing the MAF screen lately. The general view is that the screen is there to straighten out the airflow so that your MAF sensor can take proper readings. I'd suggest you leave it alone.

I think someone tested the theory of taking it out and it did nothing. Don't even bother with trying to take it out because if you break something in the process, plan on paying $400 for a new MAF

Awesome guys. Thanks for saving me the money and the hassle. A coworker removed it from his GTI and said it made a huge difference. Like the article said, theory sounds solid, but after reading it's purpose I'd have to say I'm NOT going to remove it.
