I have no strategy for negotiating a price. Advice, please.

you should definitely, without a doubt whatsoever, be able to get that car for less than $28,000. even getting it for around $27,000 or $26,500 wouldnt be too far-fetched at all.
i dont have any negotiating advice for you. i just thought i'd give the little input i could.

Best price I've been offered for a loaded Max with everything but Leather and Navi is $26,200. That is before any negotiating on my part though. That's also before the $1000 rebate. The ads on tv and newspaper says that deal ends July 7th...anyone know if it'll be extended? Or what the new deal (if any) will be?

Great Bargining Tool=Edmunds TMV
Go to www.edmunds.com.
Look up the TMV (true market value) for your car, and don't foget to choose the appropriate options. Edmunds will give you the invoice as well as what they call the true market value of the car. The best I can describe what the TMV is, is an average of what other people are actually paying for the particular car in your area. Print off the information, including invoice cost, and take it with you to the dealer. Tell them that you are not paying more than $100 over the TMV, and this should not be a problem. I did the same (in Feb), bought my 02 SE with Navi, and every option, got it out the door including taxes and licensing for $30,500!
