dunno if anyone brought this up, but is the I(35) gonna be based on the new Max? All the Infiniti's are rwd, except the current I35. Think it'll be awd?

No I think they're dropping the I35. They're going rear wheel drive in all their models.

maybe Infiniti will keep the I-35 and my best guesses are that they'll do the following to it

- RWD
- std. 5-speed auto (6-speed manual on "T" version)
- make it even more upscale inside & out (a-la Q-45)
- revive the "T" version
- further distance the I-35 from the Maxima

Lexus managed to keep the "Es" series after introducing the "IS" series, I'm sure Infiniti will keep the "I" series around as well after recently reviving the "G" series. The only thing Infiniti needs to do is either scrap or redesign the QX4 ground-up to further seperate it from the Pathfinder, along w/ adding more luxury SUV's in its lineup to compete w/ Lexus, otherwise Infiniti's on the verge of a major comeback

Infiniti

G35 - entry level luxury-sport coupe & sedan
I35 - entry level luxury sedan
M45 - luxury-sport sedan
Q45 - luxury sedan
QX4 - luxury version of Pathfinder (needs ground-up revision or the ax)
FX45? - if still propsed for actual production?? competitors??
??? - missing competitors to compete w/ Lexus's RX300, GX/LX 470

Lexus

IS300 - entry level luxury-sport sedan
ES300 - entry level luxury sedan
GS300/430 - luxury-sport sedan w/ a V6 or V8
SC430 - luxury coupe
LS430 - luxury sedan
RX300 - car-based luxury SUV
GX470 - midside luxury SUV
LX470 - full-size luxury SUV

I went to the Infiniti dealer and was talking to one of the salesman and he told me that 2003 is the last year for the I35. He said that the I35 and Maxima are to similar and Nissan no longer sees a need for the I35. Thats what he told me. Chris

I heard a while back that the I35 will be gone when the '04 Max comes out. This is it's last year.

Any official word from Nissan/Infinti about the I's future?

If the I stays, and is Maxima-based, I think the I will be AWD..

check my post in the new i30/i35 forum. According to yahoo, the new i35 will have standard AWD to differentiate from the max.

Toyota has been clashing models for a longtime. Damn company has like 5 or 6 different SUV's under the Toyota name alone, and the only one I might buy is a Land Cruiser, but the rest of them are POS. Dunno why Toyota is competing with itself.

I hope they keep the I. Looks so much better than a maxima! Inside and outside.
