LCD screen?

For of those of you that know,in the models that don;t get the GPS navi package, the standard screen is color or black and white? some people i have talked to say it might be blackand white. Can someone who knows or has the car let me know, going to the dealer tomorrow. Thanks

I HAD SOME DUST ON THE INSIDE OF MY SCREEN. I TOOK IT BACK TO NISSAN AND THEY WERE STUMPED. THE PROBLEM WAS NEWS TO THEM. I TALKED TO A CAR/STEREO GUY I AM FRIENDS WITH AND HE TOLD ME THE ONLY SOLUTION WAS TO TAKE THE WHOLE PANEL OFF AND CLEAN THE LENSE. WE DID IT AND IT WORKED GREAT. mY ONLY QUESTION IS THE LONG TERM EFFECT OF DUST BUILD UP AND POTENTIAL SCRATCHES IN THE SCREEN COVER. NISSAN SHOULD LOOK INTO THIS IN THE FUTURE MODELS

I would have liked a nice clear plastic "sheild" over the display to protect it. It would make it easier to keep clean, especially here in the desert. Although, it probably would create a glare, which is bad too... oh well, I will get over it

MY STEREO GUY DID IT. TEN MINUTES TO TAKE THE PANEL OFF. HE USED A AIR CAN SPRAY TO BLOW THE DUST OFF. YOU KNOW THE ONE YOU CLEAN KEYBOARDS WITH. IT TOOK CARE OF THE PROBLEM . BUT I CAN SEE THIS BEING A ANNOYANCE IN THE FUTURE. I DON'T WANT TO TAKE THE DASH APART EVERY FEW MONTHS.

I know this sounds crazy, but I was successful in getting 1 or 2 dusties out of the way. By flicking a finger at the screen (tapping it lightly) a couple of pieces dropped out of sight. I still have a couple that just won't budge. I too think Nissan would have been smarter to make the protective covering less "frosted". This would have made the display a bit sharper. My old Acura TL had a razor sharp LCD Nav display and my ES300 has a reasonably sharp screen (not as sharp as the Acura but sharper than the Max).

What do you guys think of creating some type of static charge on the screen (maybe by rubbing it with some type of felt material?) and maybe dragging the dust particles off the visible area. I bet it could be done. I sound desperate don't I?

BTW, I was driving into N.Y.C. today and it was really cool to see depictions of the Empire State Bldg, U.N. etc. on the screen.

Well... I'd really like to remove the panel to get at the back of the screen to remove the lint, along with what appears to be a darn fingerprint!!... but I'm a bit scared to attempt it.

Wish I had access to the Nissan factory service manual for the '04 Max to get instructions on doing it properly. If anyone has done it, and is willing to post instructions/pics, it would be much appreciated.

Don't know if I want to have dealer do it... sometimes that only makes matters worse.

Oh, the heated seats are the best, though, i use the he11 out of them.

has anyone else noticed that the pitch on the lip of the LCD (the little shelf in front of it) is perfect for holding a cell phone? It slides left and right, but doesn't fall off

YIKES! I'd be afraid of scratching the screen!

That isn't really an issue because there is a bit of a border around the display, well, you may scratch the screen a bit, but not where there is anything displayed.

maybe toss a small rubber mat in the 'shelf' to keep the phone from sliding around
