What color 6th gens have you spotted?
What color 6th gens have you spotted?
I finally saw a black 6th gen on the road (VA). Because it was black, like the one in the comercials, I was wondering if black is now the most popular color for this model. When Nissan ran the commercial with the silver 5th gen, it seemed that everyone was buying the silver color.
I spotted a silver 04 Max last night
I spotted a sliver 04 Max last night. The Xeon lights are brighter than the Xeons on my 01 330i. I was very impressed!
My 04 Max should arrive by the end of May! Spirited bronze, journey, VDC, splash and of course mats. I am going to get my extended warranty from 1 Source Auto Warranty.

Re: What color 6th gens have you spotted?
I just saw the burnt-orangey Max near my house. Unfortunately, it was going the opposite direction of the freeway. I was hoping to give it a run and see what it had. Next time...
Hey gmc74,
That Majestic Blue colour rocks - great choice. I like the lighter shade for the interior as well - maybe because my last three cars have had dark grey or black leather. Question - are there any problems with dashboard reflections in the windshield? This can sometimes happen with lighter colours - some manfacturers will use a dark dash top even with a light interior.
Nice car.
Cheers,
Jaeger

The dash has a funky design to it as well, and that may lend itself to it. I will try to see if I can get a picture of it tomorrow for you.

I don't think I've ever seen an interior with such a light colored steering wheel... I figured I'd be cleaning it every day!

, the last thing I want is a dark interior to fry my @$$ and hands on when I get in and out of the car.

I saw the "burnt orange" or whatever it is called, in Center City Philadelphia last weekend. It was an SE, and I thought it looked great with the 18" rims.

I never thought I would like that color ( Silver is still my fav), but it is a color that not a lot of people will have.

Most are great to OK.
The Burnt Orange would scare me for future trade in.
The only color I don't care for is the Champaign color.
I saw as silver '04 the other day when I was exiting the freeway near my house. It looked pretty good actually. I think I like that color on the '04 the best out of all of the '04s I've seen so far.
The driver and passenger were both really checking out my sheer silver '03. I'm sure I paid about $8-10k less for mine than they did for theirs though so I'm the one still smiling.

I still am.
I paid much less and it is probably just as quick and probably a little more civil than the '04. Besides, I'm not that fond of the '04, made in the 'ol USA. I'll take a lighter, less expensive, made in Japan '03 Maxima any day...

It seems that anything that isn't prefaced with 'in my opinion' is construed as an attack, or as if it was stated as fact.
In my opinion
the older Maxes look too sedanish, same issue I had with the Acura TL Type S. As for the "It might be a year old in the model years but techinically the car isnt". Actually, technically it is. In a year or 2 when you look it up in kelly blue book, it will be worth 5K less, even though we could have bought them on the same day with the same miles.
You may be thinking, "what is your point?", and I don't really have one... just pointing out that the people who paid more, got more... or will get more... welcome to depreciation 101

The reason we are talking about Kelly Blue Book, the age of a car, and the depreciation of a car is because it is relavent to the posts that were made. I think I was pretty clear when I stated " In a year or 2 when you look it up in kelly blue book, it will be worth 5K less, even though we could have bought them on the same day with the same miles." The reason someone could pay a significant amount less for a 2003 than a 2004 is because it will be worth less in time. I thought that was abundantly clear from my post.
Whether you like it or not, when a car manufacturer starts selling a model for the next year, the models for that year become "last years model" regardless of the date and model year. Sure it is technically a new car, and it is just as good today as it would have been 6 months ago, but there is no comparison between model years. The simple point that I was trying to make is that in January of 2006, how old will a 2003 Maxima be vs a 2004? Based on the industry standard, the 2003 will be 3 years old and the 2004 will be 2 years old, no matter what day you bought it on. Welcome to the car business.
I surely do consider resale value when I buy a car. First and foremost I look for a car that I will enjoy, among other things. But after that I consider resale value because I am not going to keep it forever. For instance, never buy a base model car because you will never get as much for it later. You are much better stepping down a class and getting all the options, or getting a used car (which is always the best decision as far as money goes). I also consider color, like others have posted on the board, I don't think that Orange will be real appealing come resale time in my opinion
.

You are absolutely right on the year difference. It rarely makes sense to by "last year's model" unless the price is at least 3K less. I agree that the 03 Max is a great bargain right now. But if you had a 5th gen, like I did....hey...then let's get something different. Getting an 04 in early 03 is kind of like a free year of depreciation in my book.
