03 Head UP with an 04

Anyone have any idea who will take the checkered flag between a 5th gen or 6th gen. 0-60 and the 1/4 mile.

-SE Automatic 4spd vs. SE Tiptronic Auto 5spd

-SE 6spd vs. SE 6spd

Re: 03 Head UP with an 04

6 speed vs 6 speed? 5th gen wins. The 10 extra hp of the 6th gen won't make up for the added weight. Everything else is equal.

4 speed auto vs 5 speed auto??? Hmmmmm, close. the 6th gen has better gearing and a little more hp, but it also weighs more. Maybe the 5th gen wins to 60, but the 6th gen wins the 1/4

the extra HP really cancels out the extra weight though. We are talking about a 4.2% increase in weight and a 3.7% increase in power. The main difference is going to be the 5 speed auto over the 4 speed, and the driver.

I really think you are just going to get 6th gen owners saying 6th gen, and 5s saying 5th gen.

What's next, who has a bigger p*n*s?

we don't know anything until we see some dynos.

5th Gen "255HP" is really more like 240 HP

If the 6th Gen "265HP" really is about 265 HP then I think it might end up being a tad faster than the 5th Gen's. If not, it'll probably be a draw. If it's pure fluff, then a 5th Gen will own.

SOMEBODY DYNO!

'let her rip!

usually don't nail it, but I was sitting at a stop sign...no Fuzz in sight...so I stomped it.
My 2000 would "chirp" the tires.
My 2004 will "smoke" them for a "long time".

Have not experience that since I was a teen with a rear drive V-8.

Huge increase since the 222 HP engine.

My '03 will rip the tires from a stop. I wouldn't compare an '00 to an '03.

I am glad you wouldn't compare them, as far as I can tell, neither did anyone else...

Right...2000 with 222Bhp would not compare to the 255 of the 02 and 03. Would not expect. Just making a time jump comparison...

am not bragging, but i set the trip button on my car the other day and decided to do 0-60 and clocked it at 6.5 seconds. so that's something to think about. i will take the challenge anytime. i know my car picks up and moves faster than my 00 and 01 5 speeds did , even though the car is big and looks heavy it moves.

And as far as the tires, they burn evenly and does not locks up like the previous maximas. the helical slip dif really works nice when burning out...

The only way to do it is via 0-60 times. It isn't like we are going to get a track to use, and I don't know about you, but the days of me stopping on the highway and racing died when I was in High School...

oh, ok, lets meet by the bike rack and duke it out after school too.

Are you f*cking 5 years old? Unlike you, I am a contributing member of society, not looking to go to jail for racing anytime soon. I guess you don't care too much about that... gonna go visit your relatives there or something?

Go to the test & tune day of your local 1/4 mile track and let er rip. Highway and street racing doesn't really prove anything anyways.

No 03 wants to take me on.......my 04 5spAuto is so quick off the line it's scary. It also builds lots of push through 3rd & 4th. I suspect the 04 5spAuto might beat the 03 5spMan if the 03 5spMan driver is not that good!

There is no 5-speed 2002-2003 Maxima. I think you talking about 6-speed.

It is posts like this one that are creating this war between the 6th Gen (2004+) and 5th Gen (2002-2003 in particular). Who cares which car is faster. If it bothers you that much, get yourself to the track and find out.

Remember, we are all here for the same reason. We drive a Maxima. I own a 2002 6 Speed and I am enjoying every minute of it. Yes, I am envious of the 6th Gen and I would love to have one but I am only 13 months into the ownership of my current Max.

The Maxima has always been ahead of it's time and I truely believe that the 6th Gen will live up to that image.

You mean it builds lots of pull don't you? There's nothing pushing this car around.

Dear Mr. High & Mighty,

Get a LIFE!

Cuz, I posted this thread for a friendly discussion and diplomatic banter regarding the new Max. My god man, why you cannot recognize that 99% of .org members take this thread in the manner it was intended to, perplexes me. Have you read the responses? Most will agree, that it will be a drivers race (Or whose DBW f*cks up first.) Each gen Max their own advantages.

And in case you forgot, the Maxima is known for performance. Why would we not compare it to the previous gen in that scope. This is a legitmate topic. So relax cuz.

I too, envy the 04 owners, but not enough to get one. My 02 fits my style more than the new one. Which one will will actually run the 1/4 first will make no diff in my life (not in yours either.)

YOU are creating a 'war' atmosphere. Most us respect the other Max whether its a 3,4,5,6 gen. YOU are framing my thread in this manner- Noone else! Take a look in the mirror cuz.
