I am guessing an auto 2k4 Maxima should run 1/4 mile in about 15.5 @ 93mph

but that is an approximate guess.

the 2k4 6 speed was tested in Car & Driver at 15.0 through the 1/4 mile.

15.5, no way it has to be a lil bit faster, magazine times arent really too accurate most of the time. then again, this thing is a boat, so i could be wrong.

I have to bet that it would be a 5th gen, but I have no way to back that up... just a hunch

15.5 no way... my spec v runs 15.3s all day long and i raced my fathers auto 04 maxima to with elite pachage and up to 75 he was two ccars ahead of me.. and im a good driver... and i avg at the track 15.4s but best a 15.3.... so 15.5 i think is wrong. there not slow there right there with the 03 maxima just 200 pnds hevier.. 200 pounds isnt that big of a difference guys. its tops 2 tenths of a second.. and 15.0 is a magazine time for the stick. never ever go by that..

Yeah .. never go by a 1/4-mile time from a magazine that is embarrasingly slow.. but if it's fast, then quote that magazine time as often as possible and make it the gospel! That's the rule right??!

Ok you are wrong. Salesmen are idiots as a general rule.......6th gen weigh 200-300 lbs more than 5th gen.......and I am surprised that it isn't more by comparing the two......6th gen look huge....guess it is the big rear bumper.........

2003 auto se 3274
2004 auto se 3432

They are roughly the same, 158 pounds difference. That is pretty much made up by the 10 HP.

158 pounds is about is between a 4 and 5% increase, and so is the 10 HP... so it balances.

You weren't wrong, they are about the same weight, they aren't the same weight, but they aren't that different. Some people will try to exagerate the difference (ie 200-300 lbs, instead of 158).

OK Mr. **** Retentive.....any chance you have to show HOW smart you are....
2003 SE 6spd 3239
2004 SE 6spd 3432

5th gen manual weighs less than 5th gen auto.....6th gen manual/auto weigh the same...

Guess what? 193lbs....so when i said 200-300lbs...it was an estimate..I guess im not **** like you and just went with a quick guess...i was within 7lbs of my low end ESTIMATE. It is common knowledge the 2K4 is bigger and heavier than the 2K3...and yes you are RIGHT the 10hp most likely does make up for it. The main point of my response was to show most salesmen are idiots, esp Nissan salesmen

You are pretty quick to call someone out for being wrong, when you are wrong yourself.

I guess we can agree on the salesmen, they are idiots... Anyone who listens to the BS they spew is just as big an idiot, or bigger.

so if you said it weighed 200-1000 lbs heavier then that would be correct as well?

Come on... if you said it was less than 200 pounds heavier, then you would be right, anything other than that and you are wrong. This is black and white.

BTW, the original post stated about the same weight, the salesman did not say that it weighed no more than the 5th gen...

I love when people adjust the facts to match their truth..

Hey, I am not the one that feels the need to use personal insults because whatever point I am trying to make is obviously not strong enough to stand on its own merits.

Good Job! Did you get that from how to win friends and influence people?

are you two kidding me?

jesus, it doesnt even matter.

as for the orginal question...if a 6 speed had a magazine time of 15.0 then i'd yes in real life people could nail a 14.6 or 14.5 so then i would guess that the auto (since it is now a 5 speed tranny) would be right around the range of maybe 14.8-15.2 (with some freaks probably being able to do even better than a 14.8 but i wouldnt call it the norm; likewise for the 6 speed)

these are just my guesses though.

BTW, to the guy who guessed a 15.5 @ 93 mph...93 mph isnt very consistant with a 15.5. if a car ends the 1/4 at 93 MPH then that would be good for about a 14.6 or 14.7. a car running 15.5 would trap out somewhere in the mid to high 80s

well yes i say if u trap a 93 mph u should be in the high 14s to at worst low 15s... my brother in his acura cl type s stock ran a 14.7 at 93 mph.. in 93 degree heat and 80% humidity.. with my spec v ran a 15.458 stock at 91 mph..... i avg 90 mph.. so high 14s low very low 15s is about right... and thats not slow at all for a 3500 pnd auto

really 15.4 @ 91? was your 60' not that great? my best times at 14.5s @ 95 mph. and other 2k2s are running 14.4s and 14.3 @ 97 with just an intake. i feel like you should be able to hit 15.1 with a 91 MPH trap
