Color of 2k4 HID's

Last night, a 2004 maxima rolled up next to me at the light, and of course it was stock. When the light went green I smashed the gas and let the fury of the intake come out. Anyhoo, I was about a block ahead of him now, and I noticed that the HID's that he had were purple, not the usual blue-ish tint like the 02-03's. Could this have been stock, or was it probably an Upgraded system? It looked really purple without a doubt from a far distance but upclose it looked to be just slightly offwhite.

It's probably stock, just looks purple due to the projector housing.

yes

From what I read, when you have the lights on, there is a cover blocking half the HID, when you turn the brights on it uncovers it all.

I don't know whether this is true or not, but it looks to be.

i think its because of the projector lense. i have a 04 max without hid and sometimes you can see alittle purple.

I think you're right. If you notice they don't get any brighter on high, they just illuminate a larger area.

Yep, I noticed the same exact thing. Not brighter, just a larger area - The HID's are bright enough anyway :P

Mine look purple, also. I thought I was just having problems with my contacts. Thanks for assuring me that I wasn't going color blind or losing my sight all together.
