No prints, just scraches on the outside of the screen from cleaning it.

Mufflers are aligned well on mine. I checked before delivery.

I took my new Maxima to the dealer today concerning these spots on the screen. They said this is a known problem which is fairly easy to fix. Most of the problems have to do with a plastic film applied to the front and back of the screen to protect it in shipping. This film is to be removed in assembly. My screen still has the film on the back of the screen. This will have to be removed which should remove the spots. Taking it back tomorrow to have this done.

I have some prints as well as some other minor issues. I have been assured by the dealer that all will be fixed. It can wait until my first oil change next month.

I have 2 fingerprints as well as some scratches on the inside of the screen. I took the car to my dealer and they have a replacement cover on order. It's really noticeable when the sun hits it.

Just smudges. Looks like the inside screen was touched when the car was assembled. Probably could just be cleaned except for I also have scratches on the inside so I'm having it replaced.

I had prints

My dealer could not get the prints off the inside...scratched it all up trying. Ordered a new one. Perfect.

I got mine yesterday, and I checked it out. There was none, and the pipes were straight too. Maybe they fired those schmucks that where doing the exhuast and nav screens... that or just trained them.

I'm on my SECOND plastic cover and the new one looks like it's all fogged! I actually sat there with the dealer as he took the thing apart. You guys should see the LCD display with the damn plastic cover removed...it's unbelievably sharp! This screen does nothing but impair the sharpness and visibility of the actual LCD screen. The dealer acknowledges this is a real design defect. My problem now is that the new screen is far worse than the old one. In almost any daytime light the screen has a significant fog (as well as scratches), but it's the fog that's more annoying. In some light you have a very hard time reading anything on the display. I told the dealer that I'm assuming that he should NOT use any "windex" type cleaner on the new one as that will merely scratch and fog the screen. I've got a feeling they did just that with this one.

The bottom line is that a 3rd screen is now on order. I'm pretty sure I'll wind up calling a regional rep on this. I just can't believe these things are coming from the factory fogged like that. Something must be going on. Anyone have any ideas?

Yea me too, but mine looks more like a white milky splatter on the back side of the cover so I told the dealership to fix it, and they are so I'd suggest the same.

Screen fix

My dealer removed the screen, removed the film from the inside of the screen and tried to clean the screen. This helped quite a bit, but they were not happy with it so they ordered a new screen.

We are still waiting for it to arrive.

Perhaps a piece of glass could be custom mounted in place of the plastic screen.

I was thinking exactly the same thing! What a shame to screw up the overall look of this very nice LCD screen. My dealer can't believe the design. I think the problem with the glass would be securing it properly. When you look at the flip side of the plastic screen, there are four little clip type fasteners holding the screen in place. The glass would be heavier and I'm not sure how secure it would be.
I can't imagine (nor can the dealer) what's causing this fogging and scratching on these brand new screens.

Mcbjr, let us know when your screen comes in and how it went. Mine's on order too, but I'm not too hopeful. I've already got a case on file with Nissan on this issue. They've never heard of it but I mentioned they will before too long as more and more people bring theirs back.

My dealer finally got my replacement screen and I had them replace it yesterday. This one is completely free of marks, scratches, or film. It really makes the screen clear and easy to read.

Congrats on your new screen! I am hopeful once again. The dealer got the paperwork for the new screen which should be in Monday. I've got my fingers crossed that the cataracts will be removed from my Nav screen.

So are we saying that with the new screen you can actually read the display in daylight?

I've been waiting now almost 2 months for my replacement screen. I'm guessing there's a significant backorder on them now.

I guess that's because there's been no problems with these screens.

I've used anti fog liquid designed for scuba diving mask and it works well for scuba,It's a clear liquidy gel that you apply and wipe off the excess. Not sure if it will work on the Max. Just an idea... RC

10 days

Mine arrived in 10 days. That was minor compared to an Emmissions canister which took 30.

Happy to report that I got my new Nav cover and it's spotless. No scratches, streaks or fogging. It's amazing how much clearer the display is now!

Fred, I don't. I can tell you it's part of an assembly that includes the vents on either side of the Nav. The piece doesn't come with the vent covers, but does have the cutouts for the old vent covers to fit into.

Sounds to me like your dealer is pulling your chain. They should have no problem getting a new screen since they were the ones who scratched it...
