Top speed limiter?

Does anyone know if these cars have a top speed limiter on them? The salesperson I bought my car from is one of my best friends and he was talking with the other salesmen at the dealership and someone mentioned a speed limiter at 142mph. Me and my friend (the salesperson) figured we'd try it out on an overnight test drive and sure enough, it made it to just past 140, right at 142mph and stopped. Not sure if the care didn't have anymore or it was a limiter. Just wondering!

Are there going ot be any kind of chips or computer prog's that will remove it? Not that I need to go faster than 140mph but I had a Lightning before this Maxima and the chip in it did wonders for making the tranny shift harder and running the 1/4 mile. I'm sure with some minor timing adjustments with the underdrive pulley, intake, and exhaust with a good chip or program these car's will be quite fun to drive

There are usually chips out there for every car. On my trip back from CA last weekend I flirted with the idea of finding the top speed, but death and the penalty for getting caught at 130+MPH were a deterent.

When I was a kid I never thought about what would happen if a tire blew (and my tires were worse back then) but now I do... I am getting old...

.. New meaning to the words "break in period".. How many miles were on the car when you hit 142, like 50?

Actually it had about 700 on it b/c I had it for several days driving it b/c my friend was the salesperson and they let me take it for several days. It already had 300 from another test drive so I figured it was broken in (was an old lady test driver) and with these new motors, if something is wrong with them, they will break no matter how you treat them. I'm just testing the weak points and so far it's running better than before at 1100 miles now

I emailed someone over at Mossy. Their reply was that they are working on exhaust and ecu for 2004 maximas. The Ecu will probably be a wolf one.

I have the JWT Popcharger intake, ECU is in the works, and I'm in the middle of R&D for the exhaust. I'll keep you updated.

Thanks,

Greg Vogel
