metal rims 18" or 17" for 04 max

Hey guys, maybe one of you can help me in the N.E. U.S.
I am from Montreal Canada and just bought my new 04 max, wouaaaaaaaa!
Now, we have a winter up there, and I do not want to damage my mag wheels, therefore I need to buy reg metal rims
of 18 " or I was told 17" would fit. Then I would fix winter tires on these rims.
but Then, can anyone tell me where I could find such reg metal rims in the US, it appears 18" rims is not so much available.

I've also tried looking for 17" steel rims for winter tires. I've been told by the dealership and 2 different rim&tire places that they are not available yet, and to try back in late fall.

i had the same trouble with my winter rims, i had them 1 year on my 2k max, but when the lease was over i picked up a 2k3 se. seeing as the calipers are bigger my winter rims were useless and if i remember correctly the guy at the shop told me to go with 17 inch winters... didnt pick them and drove my car with the potenzas all winter, check out pneus touchette on st laurent street north of the met 381-1846...he has a big selection but they usually get their winter tires in end of august

Hi from Edmonton.

My dealer told me to go with 17 inch for the winter tires (not sure why, but he was quite adamant about it - he likes the 18 for summer). He said they would have them in by the fall.

Thats because in 17" the correct size tire will be narrower and therefore have better snow performance, as well as be cheaper than an 18" snow tire. Though you do have to buy new rims so its not really cheaper in total, just better performing.

I have always bought different rims for the winter tires. Just easier that way.
