Neither.
There is a section to the inside of the turn signal that lights up. Its great since it's quite difused and won't be bothersome to oncoming drivers at dusk/dawn.
Its the vertically striped section on the left side of this pic of the headlight assembly. Above the fog light.

alternately
....even though we have the day time running lights, I run all my vehicles with full lights on all the time..It increases your visibility to others that much more, all around, but especially from the rear. Most driving schools in Canada recommend, overriding running lights and going to full lights.
