3m Clear Bra

Does any one know if there is one available? I was at Infiniti the other day and they dealership actually will install one on you new purchase if you so desire. But I have settled on upgadeing my 99 Black/Black SE-L to a 04 SE Majestic Blue/Frost Leather and I am now just doing between dealers to get the best price. One dealer had never even heard of these, and the other did not know if they had them. Does anyone here have one? If so, where did you get it and who installed it?

Best,
Mark

A bunch of people have them, they are definately available. I know some people had them done after they bought them, and one person had it done at the dealer. I don't have one, so I can't help more than that.

go to xpel.com and do a search for an installer near you. Get the clear bra, you wont regret it. You will regret not getting a clear bra eventually.

Re: 3m Clear Bra

Does anyone know of any more installers I can try? I have tried Xpel and Invinca-shield and not found anyone within a three hour drive of central Iowa. I really don't want to buy/order a 2K4 until I know I can drive from the dealer to the installer, I'm TIRED of paint chips!

Thanks for the help!

is there anyone in central Iowa?

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I have relatives that live up in the northwest corner near Storm Lake.

Unfortunately clear bras are not that common yet, I had to drive 3 hours to closest installer for my 2K2. Go ahead and drive it.....it is worth it.

If it's installed like crap, then it will look like crap, this product is not as easy as it looks to install,

well for comparison..it's more forgiving than tint. if u can tint u can do it. if you don't have a clue...don't even bother, let a pro do it.

My sister has this on her Honda Accord and you can't even see it until you get up close. I thought the dealer forgot to take it off and she told me what it was.

I'm glad someone posted the 3m website. I'm gonna get mine done this weekend.

BTW, a rock hit the front of her hood and the stuff actually kept the paint from being damaged. I think it's worth it!

Thanks Fred! I did find a dealer 45 minutes away. Now all five of us who live in central Iowa can get 'protection'. Ironically, the dealer is the same outfit that has done the tint on my last two cars. They're just now getting geared up to do the 3M film. Yeah!!

Here are some pics I took of mine. Keep in mind it's hard enough to see in person, let alone in a photograph.

I'm worried about how it will look 5 years from now. I think a fresh coat of wax on bumper & hood every 3 months is a safer bet.

Wax won't help the paint if it has a big dent in it and the dent turns to rust! My sister had he dent taken out and the paint wasn't damaged because of the film.

Why the price differences with Xpel.com and Invinca-shield.com? Same 3M product...Warranty Xpel 4 years vs. Invinca-shield's 5 years...
I've been quoted labor ranges from $200-$250.

For example 2004 Maxima full/deluxe kit (Approximately Xpel $560 vs. Invinca-shield $400):
hood, fender, mirrors, bumper lower/upper.

Inputs and/or comments? Thanks!

Maybe that's why the hood is made from aluminum, trunk lid too.

I don't use this product and I never would. But I do have a couple questions for those that do: do you guys wax your cars? If so, do you not get a wax build-up at the edges of the film? It seems to me that over time this would make the plastic shrink-wrap even more visible, but as I said, I don't use it so I don't know.

Cheers,

Jaeger

I just ordered a 2K4, so haven't had the film installed yet. But it was suggested to me that I mask the edge of the film w/masking tape to keep the wax from piling up against the edge. No big deal to me, since I spend about 20 minutes masking every time I wax anyway. Someone else I read said they have good luck applying Zaino (not much residue at all) from the film onto the paint, which again avoids piling up the wax against the film.

I have had it on my Black 04 for months and the product is great. Nearly 10,000 miles now!

Most people don't even know it's there until you point it out. I use Zaino and have no buildup.

I would have to say if it looks fine on my car it would have to be more invisible and just about any other color.

What happens when I wax my car?

You can do anything to the shield that you normally do to the rest of the car's finish. The shield will accept wax and polishes just as your paint does, and will last longer with regular applications.

What do I do if wax builds up on the edges of the kit when I wax my vehicle?

A soft, damp terrycloth towel, Q-Tip or soft brush will remove any wax build-up that may occur without harming the kit or your paint.

We will tell you how we remove the wax from the clear bra, if you tell us how you remove your wax from all the pits and stone chips...........
