I'm susposing that UR pointing us to the link to show there is a TSB, since it says that U need a paid suscription to view the actual TSB. OR, can anyone provide a copy of the pdf?? thanks for the link, I have a couple of bad pixels, no prints, or fog noted...
Hope its not going to be as difficult as getting LCD/TFT monitors with bad pixels replaced.

 

I too would love to see the full TSB on this. I've already had mine replaced.

 

I've been waiting for a replacement screen now for quite some time. My screen is fingerprinted, scratched, and dusty all on the inside. I'm concerned that the new screen will fix the scratch and fingerprint problem, but will the tech be able to keep dust from getting on the new one. Hopefully this bulletin explains how to prevent this. I'll be sure to mention this TB to the service guy when my part does finally come in.

 

I too am waiting to have my screen replaced... any ideas how to keep the NEW one clean without causing scratches?

 

I've been having good luck with an eyeglass cleaning spray and a nice fluffy microfiber cloth. I keep both in the armrest storage bin so they're always there to clean the screen.

Too bad it was already scratched before I started this. I think I can probably get the dealership to replace it.

DO NOT USE CANNED AIR to clean it. I tried and a little of the liquid came out at one point and froze on the screen. There is now a very slight discolouration of the screen where the liquid was. I didn't freak out, because its already scratched and I'm dead set on having it replaced anyways.

Thanks for the reply, but if your screen is already scratched how do you know if what your doing isn't also causing more scratches, I'm having my screen changed and only have 1 more shot at getting this RIGHT!!!

 

Hmmmm I wonder how I could tell if the screen was getting more scratches on it. I just can't SEE a way around this problem. Perhaps someone could keep their EYES open for a solution. Someone else could share their inSIGHT into the matter.

im takeing my car in for this on thursday, they said all they have to do is clean it.. so well see what happens... they better not mess anything up on me!!!

 

that's what happened to me.. they cleaned the finger prints & scratched the screen in doing so....

I don't have a nav screen but has anyone tried the screen protector type material often used for Palm screens?

 

So is this problem only on NAV screens or do the regular info display scrrens have them too.
Somebody please let me know ... I'm thinking of buying this Fall!!! Can't wait!!

 

When my screen was replaced, the guy that did the work suggested replacing the plastic screen with a glass screen cut to the same size. Of course he suggested doing this after the warranty expires. I'm sure it would work but then there's the question of glare caused by highly reflective glass. I'm sure the decision to go with the material they use was partly based on non-glare issues as well as cost.

 

Yeah I tried them. They don't work too well. The screen becomes very difficult to read. I wasted two of them trying to get them to fit.

The only other surefire idea I've had was the same as another poster had said, get glass installed. Most glass places will have non-reflective stuff available. Also picture/art framing places will have it. Either bring in an old screen or take careful measurements.

Someone who is having an old scratched screen replaced should ask to keep the part and measure it for the Org so we can have some made prior to taking the dashboard apart to replace ours.

I've also thought about having a small plexi panel made to go over top of the OEM plastic screen. Secured with small black velcro dots at the corners. I haven't looked into it too much. It would stop the scratching problem, but there would be dust underneath eventually. I was thinking a small silicone bead on the edge may help with that. But its an awful lot of work to get all that fabricated. I should do that before I get my screen changed. Just in case I scratch it up during the fabrication.

Hi guys. ! On day 2 , a minor scratch appeared on nav screen my new max and I cant even tell if it is me who made it or it was there when I got the car, Thi screen looks increadibly fragile. Now I pay very much attention and avoid touching it, so far so good.
To clean it from dust, I recommend the use of a very soft cotton cloth and I use an non abrasive cleaner for notebook, antiglare or polarized computer screens... or the new special cleaner used for the new flat screens.
It works fine..But all u guys must clean very cautious. Softly !

 

Has anyone seen this TSB?? Post?

 

Any luck getting it cleaned? My dealer said they would have to order a new one.... Anyone know how the center panel comes off?

Hey, I had my screen replaced back in June. I thought it was pretty good at the time. Now I notice there is "fog" inside the screen. There MUST be something in that TSB...wish someone could read it.

Also, I sometimes see "lint" inside the screen, but it "moves around" kinda like static is making it jump.

 

Just wait to the hear the latest on my plastic cover… there were finger prints under the protective plastic… I would not of believed it if I wasn’t there during the entire process. And it wasn’t until I driving home that I noticed it. The sun has to hit it just right. There has to be a big problem at the manufacturer. Disgruntled employee, or just out and out product tampering. Nissan needs to know…

 

The fog on the inside of my Nav screen contiunues to build near the bottom. You know how your windows get a "film" on them after a while?
I've heard it is from "new Plastic Resins" that causes it. Is it possible same thing happens INSIDE the Nav Screen? It must not be sealed very well.

Got my plastic screen replaced today... I now have a smug and two of what seems to be "pressed against" marks on the actual LCD. You can only notice them at a certain light angle/intensity... Go figure...!
No, I won't be going back, they will just mess up the plastic screen again. The original had white specks on it and while trying to remove them they scratched it all up, this one is good. Just wanted to share my "screen expirience" RC
