1/4 mile time 04 Maxima vs 04 Altima???

Made the decision to go with the Max...Just wondering,, i know the Max is a couple hundred pounds heavier than the Altima, but also has an extra 25 hp...Is there much difference between the two with an auto transmission? I already have a beast i have to shift, don't want two of them

they are the same in performance.. the max does weight more its 3460 or so for the auto and the altima is about 3200 pnds.. the 5spd auto helps alot... the 04 maxima is capable of high 14s 100% stock.. i got a 15.1 with a very crappy 2.49 60ft with ALOT of tire spin got off the gas and back on it to stop the spinning in 88 degree heat and 70%. humidity. thats with a 100% stock 04 maxima 1st time at the track with it.. only two runs i didnt get a chance to practice a good launch for the car...

Stock Altima 4 speed autos have already gone 14.6s. The best the 04 SE Maxima auto Maximas are getting is around 15.1-15.3. Granted the Maximas have only been run in warmer weather, but I doubt they'll drop into the mid 14s stock like some Altimas have. The Maxima simply weighs too much and there's no proof that the 265hp VQ in the Maxima is any more powerful than the 240hp in the Altima.

yes the 04's so far where only ran in warm weather and humid weather... and eachtime noone has gotten the launch down pat yet.. 14.6s for an auto altima are uncommen to, they avg high 14s low 15s as well... to me they are about the same.. i think on a whole the altima is a tenth or two faster but its a drivers race.. i know an 04 maxima se auto is capable of high 14s

Im still waiting for 04 to get close to the 02 manual tested in C/D (6.0) and (5.9) for the 03 Alti M/T all are in the 6.3-6.5 range to 60 with the manual so far for the 04, car mag test that is. Automatics might be very similiar although.

One mag commented that the laggy ETC on their 6spd 04 was making it extremely difficult to launch well. Couple that with the much heavier car and low-profile 18's and it sounds like the 04 is just a bear to wrestle off of the line.

Yep thats true but the others made no mention of the lag and got similiar times as well, including the new Automobile with the 6.5 sec to 60mph.
