What do people say to you?

Just curious as to what kind of comments you have had from other people when they see your 04 Max?

Just today, I was at the carwash giving mine a bath, and I had 3 people walk up and they were really amazed how good the car looks. Of course I dont try to come off as cocky or anything, but I am honest with them, and tell them that I am really proud of my purchase, and love the new look.

One in particular was curious about all the features it had, so I did a little demo for them. Luckily I had a cd in the changer that had some good beats to it.

When I first got it, several guys stopped me going into the store. What is that? I didn't know they redesigned the GS already (sorry, it's a max). They really did a great job with that car.

Now, after more commercials ...

Looks, thumbs up, co-works when going to lunch Wow, I didn't know they where THIS nice, speaking of interior and ride.

And other Max owners " ... this is the best one yet".

hahah, speaking of thumbs up, I forgot to mention, that I made a wrong turn yesterday onto a dead end street, so when I turned around to go back out, I met up with another Maxima. It was weird, but we both had our windows down, and we both stopped and simultaneously said "NICE CAR".. it was pretty classic.

Should have had a t.v. crew there to tape that one for a commercial.

When i first got the car i got a lot of compliments. I'd be sitting in traffic with the windows down and random people would ask me questions about it. I got a lot of looks driving around town, i loved id. I thought my hooked up trep got a lot but damn the max was a popular item.

Even other max owners have loved the car. Havent had too many negitavity from people either.

i love the reactions people make at stoplights. its a pretty awesome feeling when you can see the guy next to you from the corner of your eye. and when you go to look at him he suddenly turns his head back to the road. lol

Yea, I get those looks alot too. I always make it a point to look around when I am at a stoplight. I espicially love it when I pull up next to a 2.5 Altima. I get that feeling that I am driving "Big Daddy", and they are driving "little brother", but we are all one big happy Nissan family.

Just think ...

I'm trying to figure out what it is that makes people see the car in heavy traffic and driving through lots.

It has big "shoulders"? rear end is nice and beefy? Head lights? Color? 18"rims?

You would think a well to do person in a 745i wouldn't look a Nissan, but this guy 45+ at GNC in a black 745i parks next to me and starts learing into and aound my car, I was in the store but what's up with that?

I guess with the 4 inch lenght, difference and similair ht the car looks very upscale.

I see alot of old Maxima owners giving me the Thumbs up or rolling their windows down at the stop lights to say thats a awesome looking car. Few times (ok alot) Ill get stopped at the local store just running into get something. And when I take it out cruising in the local college town (Auburn, AL) all the ladies turn their heads.... (OH yea....)

Went to the beach in Florida several weeks ago. We stay on the second floor and we had a front balocony facing the parking lot. I would say at least 50 percent of everyone who walked by would stop and look at it. On the way there, we stopped at a rest stop. I was in my '03 Altima 3.5 and my wife was in her '04 Max. Both are the same bronze color and we parked side by side. We we came out the bathroom, there was a bronze Murano parked next to it and about 10 people standing around looking at them. Wish my camera was not buried under the luggage.

It is amazing how UGLY I thought that car was the first time I saw it. Now I think it is one of the best looking cars ever made.

Drove past two neighbors a few minutes ago. First one yells "nice car". Second one: "Is that a Maxima? They sure improved that car". First couple weeks passing on the freeways was sometimes a bit tricky as cars would speed up to be next to me so they could see what the car was.

I also have a third gen and just traded in a fifth gen and none got as many looks and positive comments as my sixth gen. Engine is definitely noticeably smoother in the sixth gen than it was in the fifth gen.

Coming out of work the other day, three people were standing admiring my Max and when I showed up, they said “Nice car. Now we know who makes the big bucks around here.”

Another time I dropped my son off at his friend’s house and his friend’s mother asks me how I like my new Lexus.

I actually let my wife drive my '04 Max to work and she was showing it to her boss who drives a 5-series BMW. He went back inside and immediately got on the web looking at pricing and options for the Max. He was hooked and was thinking about trading in his BMW for the Max.

I always catch people staring at the car at stop lights. My neighbor drives trucks and jeeps only, would never have bought a car until I brought home the Max...now he's decided he wouldn't mind driving a car if it was a Max.

I don't think I've ever gotten so many looks, stares and positive comments as I have with my 04 Max. I still have a 2002 ES300 that my wife drives and the Max replaced a 99 Acura TL. None have drawn the positive responses I've gotten with my Max.

I agree with what everyone has mentioned thus far with respect to onlookers staring at the Maxima, and having a Radiant Ember (Orange) with the Burnt Orange interior I get a lot of looks. Every time I go to Autozone or Pep Boys it never fails that when I come out there is literally a crowd (4-5) of people around my car. One time I was even giving total strangers a drive around the block just so they could check it out. It also is entertaining to see someone in a legitimately nicer ride (i.e. BMW 7 series, Mercedes MLK, to name a few) holding their looks onto your car. While I initially fell in love with the Fx45 (which at 20K more than the Max was well out of my price range) I think I get equally as many looks in the Maxima. I have even had my close friends say to me that they are jealous of my car (One has a G35 and the other a 2003 4Runner). My first Max and hopefully not my last.

Most people even older people with lots of $$$ recognize the maxima as a great car. Lets face quality is evident in every class and teh Maxima is at the tops of it class. The new styling makes it stand out even more.

I get pretty much the same positive reactions as everyone else here, but there was this one time I will never forget.

Within the first week of owning my Max, I went to the pet store to get my pooch some food... When I come out with the bag over my shoulder, I see this guy, who had just parked next to me... he was peeking into my car and when he saw the back seat (I have the Elite Package), he literally did a Kramer double-take... "WHOA!!!"

The number one question I get is,"Is that the new Maxima?"
And after I say yes they respond with, " I thought it was a Benz or a Caddy."
That sounds like a compliment to me:]

It seemed that nobody really liked the new body style when it was just speculated (like, in forums online) but now that there are actual '04 Maxima's on the road, everyone is like "WOW". Including myself.

I have received nothing but excellent comments from every single person I've shown it to (including people that I don't even know!).

Nissan has done it over and over again. Until a person sees the lines on the car, it's like blah blah ... then in person WOW !!!!

I don't think I will change the grill either. Because it is a "almost full size near lux sedan" I don't want the boy toy thing at all. I will mod it, most likely exhaust and intake, if priced right maybe a SC or Turbo that is pretty reliable (Nismo).

Oh, the HIDs tend to catch people off guard also.

I am a big Nissan/Maxima fan between my wife and I we have had 6 Maximas, 2 Sentras and 2 Hardbodys.

This by far the best. Looks, features, performance, and comfort.

I get lots of happy questions and compliments on my car as well, but if I have to explain ONE MORE FRIGGIN TIME that my "sideways sunroof" doesn't open, I'm gonna "bust a cap" or something like that. I explain that it's more like a double sky light and I just get blank stares of no comprehension.

I don't get as many people coming up to the car as I did in April, but I still get a lot of stares. I had a guy drooling over it the other day when I was in a furniture store. I was afraid he was going to start jerking off on the thing.

Heh, I was in a restaurant the other night eating dinner, and I overheard a couple sitting behind us talking about my car. The guy was like, "Wow, Sharon, look at that car! Wonder what kind it is?" (It was parked where he could only see the front and the Nissan emblem was unreadable)
Sharon:"Must be some new Lexus or something..."
Guy:"Wonder how much it costs, probably a fortune..."
Sharon:"Don't even think about it..."
Guy:"I wonder who's driving it, must be those elderly people over there..." (points to an elderly couple sitting across the room)

Well, we get done eating at the same time and they get behind me and my buddy leaving, and I hold the door open for them, then I hit the unlock button as he is walking in front of me staring the car down.

When he saw the lights flash, he looked around for the person to get in it and I was the only one around.

He says, "Oh wow, that's YOUR car, damn nice car man. Didn't think a kid would be driving it..."

I guess it's a shock to see a 20 year old college student driving one lol!

It's more of a shock to see a 20 year old driving the actual LEXUS and not the car that looks like it.

Extreme? I would definately say so given that each Max is an evolution of the previous model. I really don't commonly hear anyone say that ANY version of the Max was a POS.

Damn right. I bought mine on my 20th birthday (actually, just before, so I was still 19 :-)), 'cept I was already done with college. As much as I love driving it to work wearing nice clothes, it's awesome to drive it around looking like a kid :-P. But I bet it makes most people think I'm driving my daddy's car or something... hehe.
