Fragile Windshields?

After 3 months of ownership I'm looking at buying a new windshield. Grrrrrr.

A small rock while driving at 70kph put a star in my windshield. The windshield repair guy did his magic but a few days later the crack is starting to propogate out from the crack. The werd on the street is its $450-600CDN to replace the darn thing.

Anyone else having fragile windshield experiences? If I'm going to end up breaking one a year I should get the glass coverage put back on the car. Not that its going to save much money, with a $300 deductable and a $100 premium its going to save me $50-200/replacement.

Ah man that sucks, had that happen before too. Insurance here replaces ours for free, but of course the premium goes up in the process

Yeah if I was going to make a claim I'd want it to be for a large accident. The kind that writes off the whole vehicle. That depreciation coverage is sweet for the first two years. You get the entire purchase amount back if the car is written off. Its always nicer if its someone elses fault too.

I currently live in Yuma AZ. It was a hot summer and our 04 Max windshield cracked on its own. My wife came out to the car that had been sitting in the parking lot and it was cracked. We instantly took it to the dealership so they could inspect for any kind of external damage. They determined that it was at no fault of our own and they replaced it no charge.
