I paid too much money for my baby to risk injuring her drag racing. ( P. S., I'm over 25 and my testosterone level ain't what she used to be.)

It won't be faster, it has the 4 speed auto not the new 5 speed, which gets better gearing.

It'd expect the SL to run at least .3-.4 seconds slower in the 1/4 mile.

Didn't one of the auto mags test an SL against some other car(s)? What times did they get?

That moron from the Toronto newspaper did, because it was more accurate to test an SL vs a GTP comp G since they both have a 4 speed auto...

That moron said he did it because they cars are closer matched, but then when asked why he tested a supercharged GP vs a non-supercharged Max, he said it wasn't Pontiac's fault that Nissan didn't offer a supercharger... but apparently it is Nissan's fault that Pontiac didn't offer a 5 speed auto...

What a f*cking moron that guy is...

The SL has a gearing disadvantage, but a big advantage in the unsprung weight department (not to be underestimated) because of the 50 lb/corner 17" wheel/tire package vs the 55 lb/corner 18" wheel/tire package on the SE. That's the equivalent of about 160 lb of weight in favor of the SL when you translate rotational mass to a static weight.

I think an SE has the overall advantage, but an SL might only be a tenth or two behind.

I lost so much respect for Jim McKenzie after that article. He was obviously paid offf by GM over that test. When he had done the first GTP review (and was not paid off), he bashed the snot out of it. After learning that many people who lived in oshawa (a city located outside of toronto, whose main source of income is from the general motors plants within), would stop reading the Toronto Star because of his article, he was forced to do another review which made it look reallly good.
