CAI on the 04 MAX???????
CAI on the 04 MAX???????
My car will be in late next week, blk on blk, leather with the operating sun roof....WHich cai is considered the best? I tried calling Frankencar a few times , but never an answer..Any other ideas???And and REAL dyno #s on an 04 with a good intake??

It might have gained some HP but not enough to make them happy, or it wasn't as much as they originally thought, but an intake really does help the car feel like it runs stronger.
All of this is of course my own thoughts and opinions, so I may be wrong!
I got a k&n panel filter and removed my resonator and it gave it a lil more power. I would think that running a WAI would only suck in hot air so keeping the stock airbox the air is coming from inside the fender well and removing the front resonator helps it flow a lot better, it sounds good too. Im almost posative that the injen CAI will work on our cars. the ones on the altima look like the exact same setup. someone should give it a try, hell the altima gained 12 hp from it i think.
I was just talking to Ingen.....They have not checked out the 04 Max to see if the 03 will fit properly on it yet...They do show 10 hp gain and maybe 8 tq gain, which would sound about right on an 03 max...Will keep digging
I was really hoping that Ingen would have one for sale soon. I thought the hp gain was closer to 15 hp on the 3.5L but a gain of 10/8 is good too. This is probably one of the best "hp vs. dollar" deals available. With an intake and "good" ECU that's all I need, but of course neither is available yet
so Injen is better than Frankencar? Isnt Injen a CAI and that means when it rains that water can be sucked up in it right? Frankencar , you dont have to worry about it right? I am just trying to figgure out which one to get. I just dont like the idea of having the stock restricting my airflow and would like something to improve that and am not into having to change it everytime it rains.
This has been said once, and i'll say it again. The only way you'll suck water up a CAI is if you deliberately drive in a puddle. The Injen doesn't sit low enough to even suck up water in a 2" puddle.
In any case, the Injen isn't *exactly* a CAI since the filter still sits inside the engine bay - which means it's still sucking up some hot air. To date, the only true CAI i've seen for Maxima's (of previous years) is the Place Racing - but that involves cutting a hole in your engine bay.
As far as performance goes, the Frankencar is better up-top/higher rpm's. The Injen is better down low.
Think of CAI's (e.g. Intakes with longer tubes) as straws. The ratio of the amount of air that's sucked in slowly grows indirectly proportional to the amount of effort needed to suck it in the first place.
