It has something to do with the CD being burned with "CD Text". Its not a feature on all music software. I know for a fact that Nero has it. You can choose to burn CD Text as well as the ID3 tags. The CD Text is what produces the titles on our display, not the ID3 tag.

At least this is what i was told by my freak of an MP3 collecting friend. I'm fairly certain he's right.

Yep, you are right. And very few retail cds have this feature on them.

For the most part only Sony owned labels (epic, columbia, a few others) have cd-text. Even then, only about 75 percent of sony produced cds have the cd-text. Makes no sense to me. I make copies of every cd I buy so I can have one in the house and one for the car or whatever. Therefore I have cd-text for all of the cds in my car

This is great to know that I'm not the only one out there that does that!!! As soon as I purchase a CD, I immediately burn a copy for the car and keep the original for the house where CD text doesn't matter.

Most, if not all CD burning pgms do CD text, my Sony Carousle at home can also display whats being played. I can even add CD Text, I connect a regular PS2 keybd to it and type away. Artists names are held in memory so I don't have to retype them again. A real nice feature for the Bose system, which, IMHO, is a pretty kick-*** automobile stereo.
The time IS coming when U will NOT be able to copy UR purchased CD's...enjoy it while U can...

that time will never come... or at least the idea of copying songs from cds coming to an end will not happen... whatever the record companies come out with to protect their songs, im sure within a day a hacker will have cracked it, written a program, and put it up online.... there will always be a way...

A day!!?? Give me a 1/2 hour and a felt tip marker! We do it for the knowledge and the pure fact we are trying to learn! We don't do it to try and screw the record company or the artist out of money. WE JUST WANT TO LEARN! XS4ALL!

Yeah, and people really make copies of software and give it to their friends so they can hold it just in case their is a fire at their house.
