License plate

Bought a new 2004 Maxima SE, Sep 1, 2003 and still waiting for the plate. E-mailed the dealer (Irvine, California) and they responded the temporary sticker I have on my windshield is good for 90 days and after that I should go to DMV. Who is responsible for the new plate, the buyer or the dealer? Should I e-mail the Nissan Headquarter or wait for another 30 days? Need feedback.

The dealer should have filed all paperwork. Don't bother Nissan Headquarters. They won't be able to help you.

It can take up to 90 days for the DMV to process the paperwork. If you dont receive it by the last week of November, call or stop by the dealership and ask for the title clerk. Nissan has nothing to do with it.

Wow, that a suprise. I got mine a week after I recieved my car. I thought that was pretty amazing. (had to wait a month for my eclipses) Maybe I just got lucky. Or maybe since I live out in the sticks the DMV has nothing better to do.

I live in California too... For the various cars I've bought, it's taken anywhere from two to 8 weeks to get the plates. It's all depends on how big of a workload of the DMV, and how much of a backlog the prisoners have on making those plates.

Sorry to hear from you too. I'm still waiting. So, youre from Monterey? I was stationed at Ft. Ord during the 70's. Hate to see that place closed. Missed Monterey and her surrounding town. Best weather in USA, Don't need A/C or heater.

The dealer is responsible to get the paper work done you pay for that. But you live in KHALIFORNiA Ask arnold mabye he can help. I would avoid the DMV at all cost.

Even the DMV California on line will not answer my question about new license plate. Their advice is to call them during Thursday and Friday (so called slow days). Tried to call DMV Thursday and Friday and it was busy from morning till closing time.

Is your car a lease or a finance? I guess in CA its a bit different than in OH if the dealer is responsible to get your plate(s) to you if its a finance. Here in OH, if you finance, you have to go to the DMV and get your own plates and if its a lease you either have them mailed to you or you pick them up at the dealer.

I bought my 04 SE on 8/30, its funny, but the guys that did my tint said not to put my plates on until after 2004 because it would ruin the "newness" of the car. Go figure. Anyway, just got my plates last week, just to lazy to put them on. I will most likely put them on before 11/30 when the temp registration expires.

I'm still waiting on my plate but I'm not worried about it. In San Fernando Valley and Beverly Hills, they have cameras taking picture of your license plates if you failed to stop at the red light. Since I don't have the plates, they can't track me down. The cop's haven't stop me for not having license plate on my car, I guess they haven't seen a lot of the 2004 Maxima on the road.
