Hello all. I just got back from a test drive, and I must say I was impressed. I think I might just get one.

How much off MSRP are you guys getting? From just quick negotiations, I was able to get $2000 off. I know I can push them farther.

Thanks,

JohnnyTT

Factory ordered last week for $500 over invoice which is $2900 under MSRP for what I ordered (SE/Journey/Moonroof/VDC/Mats/SplashGuards/Factory XM Radio).

I think they're feeling the "Acura TL pinch" right now, so it's a good time to deal. I like the TL as well(particularly the VERY nice interior), but the exterior of the Max beats the Accord/TL hands down in my book. I'm also seeing that dealers are, at least for now, getting very close to MSRP for TL's and that there is a 3-4 month wait for Nav equipped units. Neither of these is acceptable to me. Not that I'm settling. I know I will love the Max for years to come, especially since I got it just the way I want it!

i can do 200 over invoice all day long at my dealership as long as the customer is going to make it fast and easy.....most of the time a dealer wont give you that price to fast just because of the nature of customers thinking...if you jump that low that fast the customer will automaticly think there is more to get...(and there isnt).....
but if the customer isnt going to come in buy and go in a fast manner(not to be rude just listen to my thoughts) then i wont take the deal...reason being is i am not going to tie my salesman up for hours on a deal when he is only makeing 100 dollars.....
but if the customer comes in and states i will buy right now for 200 over invoice ill take the deal.....its a unit for my saleman 100 dollars for him and another new unit for my dealership....ill try to make it up on the next deal.....

hope this helps.....

one guy got lucky in here i saw....
i will not order a car for a customer and discount it....if i have to find or order the car it is at msrp or no deal......got a lot of hassles and fees in locating and transporting so i wont discount in that situation.....

hope this helps you out w your question.....

I bought my 04 as a special order in June for invoice, and suspect it is still possible (or more possible) now to do the same. A Chicago area dealer recently advertized 1.9% financing as well, although these financing deals depend upon the dealer's region (i.e., all the dealers in a particular region will offer the special financing, but not all USA dealers).

i never said it was impossible..(except at my store)..i said i wouldnt do it....someone wants a special order car they will pay special order price....you want a deal?buy from my inventory....
what other dealers do is fine but there will not be 1 discounted special order car to come out of my store....doesnt make sense to do it.....

as for the guy that said he paid under msrp on an sl....well i would love to see your buyers order.....the only way a dealership is going to sell the car for a loss on the front is when they are killing you somewhere else(rate, warranty,or other back end product)...
im not gonna mislead you.......
like i said before as long as we can make a couple hundred on the car im good...i make the money in my used cars

Paid a total of $27,300 for my 2004 Maxima SE, 5 speed automatic, with Carpets, mud guards, trunk carpet, tax, and license. In two months, I added Nismo oil cap, Nismo radiator cap, Nismo license frame, K&N air filter, factory rear lip spoiler, billet grille, billet bumper, Razo brake and gas pedal, and limo tint for a total accessory price of about $900.00. Next project is to lower the car (struts & springs) and 20 inch wheels.

I got my SL today at $500.00 over invoice. I guess I did not do as well as some of you but I am still pleased and still feel like I haggled myself into a pretty good deal.

I assume your talking about me, I paid 26,600 + the 199 Doc fee for My silver base SL with Floormats, mudguards and cargo mat. I provided my own financing, no back end money to be made. I am in the business also (Non Nissan), and saying no one will sell a car short without crushing you in the back is ridiculous, a high volume dealership certainly will take a short deal to make their numbers good for the month, atleast around here they will. Now you know as well as I do that no dealership will "LOSE" money on a deal, but I highly doubt in my case that the dealership "LOST" money selling me the car. I figure my SL came with ATLEAST $700-900 in holdback money, plus another 200-350 in Floorplan Assistance, not to mention if Nissan runs any dealer cash programs. So figure the dealership after having me pay the Doc fee (which I know and you know doesn't pay for ****, but I make everybody pay so I paid it as well) I figure they made atleast $200 selling me my car without the Floorplan money. If you don't believe me, check out the website of the guys I bought it from www.quirknissan.com

I have nothing to gain by misleading anyone here what I paid for my car, just answering the question of how much was paid.

nissan doesnt offer floorplan money for a dealership....as for the hold back you are probobly pretty close on a number for that...guessing off your msrp number you listed about 675 to 725....as for doc?lol...yea thats pure profit....there is no dealer incentive on the car either....sounds like they tripple netted the car to you....i said i didnt believe it because as you know being in the bussines 95% of the car buyers in america dont know how to purchase a vehicle....switch them to payment when they ask about price and eventually you have them more worried about a payment that fits into their budget and they over look total cost on a vehicle.....

i would never personally go into the holdback to sell a new car that is as hot of a seller as it is...(sentra frontioe and xterra is another story)
somone wants a hold back they can find another store and give them a shot....ill do a hundred or 2 over invoice all day long..if its a quick easy deal..after all is said and done on a invoice deal salesman and detail and service paid the dealership will make 400(aprox)
we are a very high volume store but we wont sell one at a loss unless we make it up in rate or other back end product.....

good purchase man

"doc fee" was $130 where I got my Maxima from near Dulles, Va (Brown's Sterling Nissan). I just paid it. I wouldn't pay no $399 doc fee. That's ridiculous. I'd try to negotiate another $399 off of the car in that case, and if they wouldn't I'd probably walk unless I wanted the car *really* badly.

Geez, I'm glad that TX has a $50 maximum doc fee! Of course, there's that 6.25% SALES TAX. Ugg.

Interesting story on my 2004 SE, I saw a add in the paper from Bob Howard Nissan in Oklahoma City Oklahoma saod $2000 off MSRP on all 2004 Maxima week before Labor Day, I call told them have to have 2004 SE Auto, Onyx, frost leather, Journey, matt package, mud guards and sunroof, cash deal No trade I'm keeping the 1995 Max.

They told us very hard to find color option package but will locate. Called me in San Antonio TX where we were visiting family we live in Ft. Smith AR which is about 3 hours from Okie City btw Ft. Smith Nissan wanted MSRP and Dallas wanted MSRP less $1500, said they had one coming off assembly line today and we would have it in 2 weeks I said OK gave a $500 deposit.

Charged a $132.50 doc fee which was Ok still paying $32,343.50 for a MSRP of $34,200. That car got off loaded in Houston TX after going through Mississippi and the transport breaking down in Mexquite TX. Dealer called and said he could get us the same car color and options plus the Elite package for the same price at another Texas dealer that a lot closer than Houston I said ok deal is getting better. He got that car in said it already had 800 miles on it wouldn't sell it to us, told us to wait 2 more weeks and he would get us the same car with Elite package 0 miles and would deliver it to our front door at no charge, I said Ok but things seemed pretty fishey at this point. I did some checking Better Business and such on the dealer and made some phone calls since my Uncle was a retired Nissan Sales Manager. Everything checked out Bob Howard is the largest dealer in Oklahoma selling 19 brands in three cities.

The guy I was talking to at Bob Howard was over the logistics and told me in 18 years he has never had this much trouble getting a car in.

After 7 weeks of putting down a deposit on a Friday they delivered a 2004 SE Auto, Onyx, Frost Leather, Power Glass Sunroof, Elite Package, Carpeted Floor & Trunk Mats, Splashguards. MSRP $35,150 which we paid $32,332.50 according to Edmunds is $536.50 over Invoice... yes we are happy Best part when my wife went back to work she was told she had been promoted to Customer Service Manager at the Coorugated Box company where she works with a big raise, to say the least she had a very big day with a new car and promotion

i agree about the doc....but we get it and in most cases nobody even argues with it..thing is we are number 6 in the country in total gross per unit and about 112th in the country in new units sold(out of several thousand nissan stores)

when you have rediculous fees and a $1895 dealer mark up and still do what we have accomplished you know you have the best sales staff out there....you got to sell the sizzle not the steak....most dealers do it the other way around and sell the steak...well when you do that you are selling the same thing everyone else is.....
me and the other mngrs have our guys believing customers should pay them 500 dollars just for shaking their hands....they are so confident when they take that monster pencil 200 dollars a month higher than their commitment back to the customer they usually get alot of it.....
thats why we are averaging $3400 gross per unit(new and used combined) when the national avg is 1900....we are almost twice the average

but i will take a skinny in a second....but you better believe im gonna try to make everything i can first.....sometimes its a hundred sometimes its thousands

Dealer fee $699 ????
Hello, I'm shopping for a 04 Maxima SE today. I've found the color i like (silver with black leather), and the great thing is dealer agreed to sell me that car at invoice price plus tax, tag, and dealer fee. It turned out to a hidden charge. They've added $699 as dealer fee!!!! When I asked why too much? They told me every dealers do the same thing, and it's NOT negotiable. I disagreed and went home with out the new car. How much did you guy paid for your OUT OF THE DOOR? NOT only the price of the car please post.

Thanks

I am assuming that the $399 doc fee is just another insurance for the dealership to make some kind of money, am I correct ?? I mean it should not cost $399 to work up some docs that would normally take about an hour to process.

it actually takes alot longer to process than 1 hour....the doc is the way the dealer asures that they dont have to pay for the employes that do the office work.....it is pure dealer profit.....

it isnt negotiable...every dealership has doc fees....or dealership fees as they stated...that is true and they can not waive those fees....it isnt the dealership that puts that fee on there...it is usually the corperate office....states have regulations as to how much a dealer can charge for doc fees...like here in va it is capped at 799 dollars....we split it in the middle and charge 399....which in my opinion is kinda high...149 is fair i believe...

if you didnt already get them to invoice i would say get them to discount the car to offset some of the fees....but i doubt they will do that now.......if you need anything else send me a pm and ill see what i can do to help

My total cost...
It sounds like some guys are paying a bit more than they should. My cost breaks down like this:
04 SL w/ Mats, color keyed mud flaps and cargo mat.
25,988 vehicle price
52.57 doc fee
7.50 county tax
143.00 License transfer & title
1692.64 sales tax (6.5%)
Grand total of 27883.71 out the door.
I wasn't sure if I got a "great deal" initially as they took this offer right away. But after reading thses other posts I'm pretty content that I did well...

Kosd! You did well but NOT well enought, I've been shopping for a new Max in the last few days. There's a local dealer asked me for $27,000 out the door, and they will have the color that I wanted in 24 hrs, but I'd stay with my initial offer @ $26,250 out the door. The saleman has called and left me a message this afternoon that his sale manager wanna talk to me in person. BTW, the car we are working on is a 04 SL, auto, NO package, only floor mats and trunk mat.

Try http://www.carbuyingtips.com/. A lot of good info on the entire
buying process. In retrospect, I didn't experience any of the salesman
shenanagins mentioned in this web site, but then again I went straight thru the internet sales /fleet dealer.
This site has a lot of info re: financing, trade in, insurance, etc...

I paid $500 over invoice, SE, Elite with everything but Sat. radio

Some new Maxima owners talk about how much they saved, how cheap they got the car for, but they don't want to divulge how much they paid for their 2004 Maxima. With carpets, trunk carpet, mud guards, tax and registration, I paid $27,300 for my Radiant Ember 2004 Maxima SE. I did not talk to any salesmen, I used my computer in dealing with them and after we agreed with the price, I went straight to the dealer and one hour later went home with my new car. I did not buy any extended warranty, lifetime oil change, or lojack.

Did anyone catch the special NBC had on Dateline Friday night? It was all about the games dealers play. I found it to be pretty interesting. They did a good job on it, and I found it to be very interesting.

Any one else watch?
