Hello All; By reading through the many threads on this site the famous "shimmy in the steering wheel" problem seems to be isolated to approxamety 35% of the 2004 SL Maxima owners that posted on this site. Is there anyone that has a 04' SE Maxima that has not been able to resolve a "shimmy in the steering wheel" problem? Thanks.

Just had a quick thought.......Have they sold enough of these to cover the cost of a recall?.......Do you suppose other manufacturers are monitoring this site?................

I've done all I am going to do with my vibrating 04 SE. Tomorrow the paperwork for the TX lemon Law fight will be filed.

Good news. Is it a SL or SE and how many miles did you have on it before turning the rotors?

Eventually I could feel the steering wheel shake when I was slowing down and I knew the rotors probably needed to be turned. So I took it to the dealership and got it fixed. It still annoys me that I had to take a brand new car in for the rotors with only 4500 miles on it. Are the rotors just under-sized or something? Why are you having to rotate at like 4500 miles? that is not normal for a car, and especially not normal for Nissan cars. They are usually really good in the brake area, in my experience. I have a 99 and I don't think they were replaced(the rotors) even when I bought it at 65,000 miles.
