I don't have a 6th gen but take my opinion for what it's worth.

a moderate lip kit
--more subtle
--yet looks different from the regular 6th gens
--its a classy car
--lips are cheaper than front bumper covers so hopefully more sales?

Also, make sure you do a rear and front lip - maybe side sills too?
Please don't let this be a custom maxima thread and just tease the 6th genners

Maybe i missed something but whats that supposed to mean?

As far as the kit goes probably the moderate, not too agressive, definatly should flow with the lines. Check out the thread on photoshoping, there are some good idea there.

I don't like to tease people... not my style. I made the original skyline kit for the 4th gen guys, I have prototyped the new urathane front lip for the 5th gen guys which is still in developement, and we're considering coming out with something for the 6th gen maxima (as well as the G35 Coupe and RX-8) next year.

For some reason allot of the actual 6th gen owners that were participating on this forum seem to have stopped posting. Give it some time, either they will be back or new ones will take their place. By 2005 the 6th gen should start showing up in large numbers on the used car market, then you should see some real interest.

Uhh.... no interest here, sorry.... On a car that sees frequent track duty, that makes sense. You need perfect tarmac that only a track can offer. On a road-going vehicle, creeping up driveways and scraping over speed bumps...? How do you even change a flat with all those ground-effects? Call a tow-truck? Just my opinion... Do whatcha like... they may look nice, but the ones I see abandoned on the side of the freeways don't look so great.

my two cents that is a long ramble

i am neither a 6th gen owner, nor a fan of the car, but i have seen some photoshop ideas and a couple of them in real-life set up nicely. the 6th gen is a strange beast: it can look totally goofy or it will grow on me and i will like it. the rear and side views are pretty cool looking, with the front end looking a bit like a joke. so it can and will benefit from subtle but important changes to the components of the grille and front fascia/fogs most definitely. perhaps the car is a bit too fat for sideskirts, but more demo drawings/photoshop tests can reveal more on this. i would recommend both a freshened up front lip option AND a full-body kit that is tasteful and not gay or imposing. i would avoid the veilside look as it is too over-the-top for the already piggish presence of the 6th gen. make a tasteful grille that does not look cheap. and make 2 options for the body kit/fascia concept. and test market those here. i would like to see that. also, the 6th gen benefits from upgraded rims (like a TE-37 style with a lip) and lowering suspension. maybe even offer "eyebrow" type attachments for the overly-vertical and triangular headlamps (sort of the idea that WRX tuners got hip to when they could not stand the cute but "bug-eyed" redesign of that car - a design move that has since made subaru return to a version of the more pleasing original design).

some of these comments may be useless to you, as you seem only interested in making bumper or diffuser/spoiler components. but i also feel that many 6th gen owners, car owners in general, do not really know what they want until they see it. most people are not designers or saavy to previsualization. you may be giving consumers a product that they don't really know that they want. that is, they may be begging for it unconsciously.

now >>>the low turnout for this thread may be a case of people not really caring for such a product, or, conversely, is a topic that people cannot readily comment on because they do not know how to talk about such a subject as car design aesthetic and previsualization. another thought that occurred to me as i wrote this was this: as the 6th gen is very new, many new owners of this car like to keep it the way it was when they bought it, as this incarnation of their car is "theirs." they were attracted to the 6th gen for traits that you or i dislike. so they have no need to modify it. look at how most people are responding to the poll: they only want a minor lip kit. so this may confirm what i just said about how they actually favor the machine the way it is, for the most part.

uhh..okay

A kit isn't for the track...it's for looks and to set yourself apart from the majority. Tell this to all the 5th genners who recently bought a lip kit from Stillen or MT and they will tell you its not hard to change a flat with this on. Better yet, tell this to the 2001 AE owners who have a factory kit...or go straight to Nissan about it.

The only body kits out there for 04 Max are Stillen and Sarona, right? Correct me if I'm wrong...

Anyways, I'd like to see something in the middle between Stillen and Sarona, although I prefer Stillen's slight modified style. I'm just wondering if the Stillen's sticking out front lip could be adjusted a little... I think the ones on your website would look pretty decent on 04's as well...

I like Sarona's stylish rear, but the front is too dramatic for me... I'd like something that does not stand out TOO much to attract cops, but just unique enough to be noticed by fellow car fixers.

I had never seen the Sarona body kits before so thanks for the info. After checking out their website I would also like to see something similar to Sarona, but not as extreme. Some of their lines are sweet but others are a little too harsh. I'm not a fan of Stillen's front lip design but the rest of it is cool.

All I have to say is make it classy. Nothing like the Sarona kit for the 5th gen. Maximas are classy cars not crap. IMHO, I like the Stillen lip.

I guess the kits he's referring to are the ones tailored to the "I want it to look fast but my car will never see the track so it doesn't matter if it's functional" crowd. :attention: You know the ones who put huge rear spoilers on their FWD cars.
