I agree. You can't just add up all the "claimed" HP of your mods and get a realistic total gain.
I'm really thinking about throwing on the Injen CAI. Even 10-12HP gain would be a great value for the money. Heck there's usually an increase in fuel economy with an open air filter like that. I could sure use it.

Yup!! Conceivably, the HP/TQ added may occur in different parts of the powerband. Injen's website showed an 11whp/4wlb-ft increase from their CAI on the 6sp 5G Maxima with the biggest gain (mod vs stock) between 5,500-6,000rpm. http://www.injen.com/webpages/testin...es/rd_1940.jpg
The Cattman Y-pipe shows a 4.7whp/6.3wlb-ft increase on an auto 5G 3.5L Maxima with the biggest gains (mod vs stock) between 4,300-5,000rpm. But the Y-pipe on they dyno I have shows that the Y-pipe chokes WHP below 3,700rpm. (If someone wants to host the Cattman dyno pics I have, I'll gladly send them.)
But the rule of thumb with performance mods is to try to get some dyno figures for your application of at least similar apps (i.e.: 5G 3.5 Maximas, Alty 3.5SE, G35, Z, etc,...) in order to get a feel for the mods' true benefits.
Peace.
