CD Titles on the Nav screen

[SIZE=7][COLOR=DarkSlateBlue][FONT=Comic Sans MS]
Maybe this has been discussed before, but has anyone seen CD titles or Track titles come up on the Nav display?
I have set the display to show CD Titles and have yet to find a CD, new or old, that shows the title. I even made a CD copy using ROXIO and the titles will show up on the PC but still not on the Maxima's Nav screen.

The title of the CD usually wont show up, but the Artist names and Track names should show up if they are saved with the audio file. If you have mp3s on your computer, when one is playing through Winamp or other mp3 player on your computer, try viewing the file info, the ID3 tag... if the artist name and track name show up there, they should also show up on the screen. If you're using Roxio, I believe there's a check box when you are in the record settings to record this info with the CD, make sure that is enabled.

The feature is called CD-TEXT, and I think I've heard that only one label uses it and then not consistantly... I think the best bet is to burn your own car set of discs (don't use labels thoguh!) and make sure to enable CD-TEXT after running them through a CDDB...

The text always works on my cd's, I burn them with Nero

I even get artist/song info on some regular FM RDS stations now

I found there is only a small amount of CD burners that actually support CD Text. I researched this when I bought my car and the list was very thin. I also haven't found any CD's that play the text. If I find the list again I'll post it...

I bought a new KMFDM cd recently and it shows both the CD title and track titles. However, this is the only CD I've seen do this from the factory.

I have a couple of new CD's which display the song title, but mostly, I get the "no track title", so I never use this feature.

In the Bay Area, I also find the RDS reception sketchy at best. This technology clearly has not been optimized.

Use Nero

I have used Nero to burn CDs and it will put the track names, artist name and Title in there no problem. The ROXIO software sux... i have it but never use it. Just use NERO for everything.. i think it runs faster and better than the Roxio crap.
